Quick question for you all:
Runner on first. Hard shot to first base. She grounds it, tags first and throws to second.....does second need to tag the runner going from first or can she simply tag her bag (force)?
DD along with three other girls on the team fell in love with it right away. Honestly, i'm not sure if they fell in love with it because it's that good or because it was something new and shinny. My DD liked it but she still needs some T work to get her used to the weight difference.
I...
we use the same as most. No dropped 3rd strike, no infield fly rule and cold home plate. One base per pitch. 1/2 of season is coach pitch, second half we take the coach pitch out and let the girls go at it. with coach pitch, we do not do opposing coach but players own coach, that way you do...
CONGRATS!!!
I have a 11 month old. Since we do not have someone to watch her, we take her to all of the 8u games and tourneys. at 11 months old she's already running around the house with a ball and glove. It's hilarious to see!
At two i would consider a pitching and hitting coach :)
j/k...
you can punish as much as you want, more than likely won't change anything.
The best luck i've had is changing my ways. I would be more positive to the girls so that they are up there with good vibes and no attitude. Also try to reinforce that you don't care if they strike out.....as long as...
rec ball in my area is pretty serious. using your scale, i'd say it's an 8. Lozza, depending on their location, three days might be standard. I have that same attitude but more towards park leagues that allow players to play for free and just for fun. We used to do Tues, Thurs and Saturdays...
You really are lucky FP, my daughter wants to play guitar...which means, i have to learn how to play guitar!!! I now see what you are saying, i did misunderstand and apologize. your past experiences are somewhat different from what i have seen around here. Around here it seems like the girls...
I completely agree with you Kevin and i don't know how it is over in Indiana or other parts of the country but i have a feeling that there's more of that here in SoCal then anywhere else. But that's not only the case with softball, that's with every other sport. Softball is a little different...
I'll come in here and contribute since it was my original post that started all this madness.....sorry about that btw....
Here's my history with the sport to give you an idea....I've coached for about 8 years. Little sis played growing up, from rec to travel. Wife and all her current friends...
It's not common at all. My daughter played with this pitcher i'm referring to. They played in All Stars and numerous tournaments right after winter ball. They did not come across a pitcher that was as fast as her. She literally was untouchable. There was just one team we came across that...
Let me know when you decide to make it to the west coast and i'll see if there are any good tourneys for you to stop at for a bit.
As far as softball being the one and only thing. I'm sure there are parents in the west coast that are that way. I fortunately am not one of them and that's why...
It's true and this thread made me realize it. I'm seeing now that they don't kid around here. Just the fact that they have tournaments for 6u divisions goes to show how early they get started. Most parents around here skip the 6u all together. You'll see many 8u teams with 5 year olds on it...
yup....6yr old with not only pitching coaches but hitting as well. not too many of them but they are around. 7 year olds for sure. At 7, a lot of the girls already have both hitting coaches and pitching as well. You guys mention that 2 hour practices seems crazy for 8u all stars. 8u rec...
