in an asa tournament, could anyone tellme how to best utilize the dp flex rule, other than just a way to get 10 players involved? at the moment, i intend to use my weakest fielder as dp & my weakest hitter as flex. any other suggestions?
I just gotta thank the few of you who have badgered & hounded Howard (hitter) to the point he decided to quit posting here. Howard has been a ton of help to my daughter & our softball organization by giving selflessly of his time & knowledge. I realize there has to be room for differing...
situation- Line drive , foul down 1b line. noone disputes the ball was in foul territory....first baseman tries to make the catch & ball glances off the glove foul. 1b was standing in fair territory when she made the attempt- whats the right call?
I would like your thoughts on always trying to make the rundown happen at the lowest possible base. my feelings are that if , for instance, a pitcher catches a runner off base during a play, that she should force the runner back tward the lesser base, and try to make a 1 throw putout. However...
One of our local guys bought a new bat roller. the thing is highly reccomended by the manufacturer to break in a composite quickly, & evenly,& increase power a bunch. Does anyone have any pos. or neg. experience with these things they would share before I let him work my DD,s new bat over...
 I got me a little education tonight.....DD is getting bigger & stronger!! We got outside for the first time this year with the bat & hard balls. Have been working on her swing all winter, & it seems to be getting better. I was pitching a little in front of the mound (so I could throw...
My 14u travel team hasnt met as a group yet, & with the weather forecast , it doesnt look to happen real soon. Gym time is impossible around here right now, still I would like to get the girls together for some team building....any suggestions?
Funny story.
I had DD at the bowling alley yesterday for a birthday party & she was throwing a backup ball, so trying to speak her vocabulary, I told her that she was releasing the bowling ball like she does her screwball, & she needed to move her hand around the ball the other way...
OK, someone show mw where I am wrong in my thinking.I have been told that a 5 frames per sec (30 fps video) swing is a good swing, so I just decided to break down the numbers for myself & see what I come up with, & I come up with a little over 8 frames per sec to get the job done. here is the...
I have saved several web pages in a folder with elite pitchers & batters videos in my computer for video analysis. Is there any way to save these videos directly to the computer so I can use the laptop in the field where no internet is available??? Thanks
I had to call a guy from Warren Pa. today to see if they had any openings for the Bustos/Howard clinic in Feb. I am familiar with his travel organization, & in the course of conversation,he have me the greatest reference for Hitter & the stuff he is teaching. He told me his organization attended...
If you were calling pitches to an extremely high speed lefty who is a very good drag bunter, but who is only mediocre as a slapper or power hitter, how would you pitch to her. assume the pitcher can locate fastball & changeup well, & is not throwing movement pitches well yet.
I recieved my new Casio ex-fh20 on monday of this week & have had a little time to play with it. This camera is really a lot of fun to play with. The 40 shot/sec still photos are only of marginal value to me right now for indoor analysis, but the function seems to work well & I am sure will be...
OK, I got my new casio Ex-fh20 high speed camera& Im having fun experimenting with it. This camera will shoot up to 40 frames/sec.I can set it at 30 if I want.If I understand right, that is industry standard for measuring a swing???
anyway I have heard you guys mention a 5, 6, 7 etc. frame...
Well , I am fresh back from the Cherry hill softball clinic & watching Mike Candrea & Ralph Weekley put on hitting demonstrations, so I now know just enough to be a danger to myself & others!! Anyway I got a chance to buy my DD the above bat cheap there. Can anyone give me an oppinion on it??
I was reading the pitching thread about the Shamrock 14u pitcher, & several of you seemed to think she iss just 1 in a million geneticly, & it made me think of a comment a hitting instructor made at a clinic I was at last weekend. He was a d1 coach (Todd Randall I think), & his first statement...
OK, we have been working hard on her swing for a while now, specificlly on getting in an athletic position , & starting better hip rotation to fix bad bat drag & poor barrell path. today I feel she FINALLY had a breakthrough. The cue seemed to be to tell her to keep elbow separation the same...
