Softball and All-stars is not all about softball and winning games. Sometimes its about life lessons, building character, and learning to do the right thing as a team. I think that if the father and the family are on board for her to play, then she plays. Put her in the games in the correct...
I think take what you have and make them better. Your parents will see what you did in the end. Use the resources of this site and get them better. I don't know what time frame you're working in but start now. Its 10U, make it fun for them, they can learn and have fun. In the end,if they had fun...
I think that it could just as easily gone the other way. If she hadn't put her(runner) arms up, the catcher would have put her down with the tag to the chest.
Try here, lots of stuff on grass and dirt, rebuilding and maintaining. He sells some sort of book/guide but alot of stuff appears to be available to read on the site.

That is a great story to hear.
My daughter who currently plays 12U, had a chance to practice and play in some 16U tournaments last fall and also continues to practice with a 16U team from time to time. She actually plays with more intensity and effort then with her 12U team.
I think that if...
A coach should be open minded. I see too many coaches who think that their way is the highway and have an unwillingness to change or admit they are wrong or don't know.
First I want say I really like this DVD also and I go back to it regularly and continue to find little fine points in it that can make a catcher even better.
I do have a question though.
In the video, he says the only time you would be on the balls of your feet is during sign giving. Are the...
I totally agree with Amy, ask!! I know of organization that have a rostor of 18-20 and all the do is collect non-refundable start up and Monthly fees and the 6 or 8 that rarely play are revolving door to collect more money from new players that quit. Its how they pay there coaches. Not all teams...
Since the "rec" coach doesn't know or understand how to call pitches, why not teach your DD to call her own pitches? You could teach the "rec" coach too. Neither will get it right for a while but at least you aren't going to be the crutch for them.
Bretman,
I'm not sure that I'm right on this but I want to understand obstruction calls better. In this case, assuming the umpire gets it right(which I don't think they did in this case), an obstruction isn't called till the runner is first obstructed then makes an attempt on the next base and...
That is how I see it too, its live unless by the judgement of the umpire that obstruction of the throwing player has occurred.
There is a little more to this, I was hoping for few comments first.
Thank you for your comments
On a double play, if after getting the out at 2nd, the throw to first hits the runner coming to 2nd. If anything, what happens to Batter/runner or R1? Is anybody out automatically due to the thrown ball hitting R1?
My opinion is R1 is allowed his lane to run and slide into second and the defense...
We use the term "Where the ball takes you", so in the situation you describe, if the 2nd baseman is in the proceess of fielding the ball and it "take them" towards 3rd then the play would or could be to 3rd. If the ball "take you" towards 1st thern the play would be to 1st. This works for...
