I was thinking of this for a few weeks. The end is near. DD's last time she will play softball will be this weekend tournament. She had her last team practice last night. It was kind of odd because it didn't feel like the last of anything. Even during the hr drive back home.
DD started...
A parent recently shared some photos of their dd hit by the ball. First was a bad hop that hit her in the jaw and right cheek. First thought was where was her mask? She always uses one. This is 1st year 16u. Finally found out either the coach or the org frowns on masks. Parent never told...
Poor DD has to use last year's equipment. No new bats since the 32/22 CF6 Insane and the 2014 -9 32" Xeno from last year. Nokona glove still going strong.
Had her Nokona re-laced. A pair of Oakley's so she would stop borrowing mine.
For me: Another Nokona glove and a custom Vinci. Love...
Just thought I would update our situation.
DD did switch to another team. Her new coach knew of her and had asked her several times to come play for him. She politely declined. I asked him if his roster was set for spring. Had some meetings with his assistants, parents, and the girls...
I wouldn't exactly call it switching in a bad way--in terms as a label is concerned.
2nd year 12U played up on 14U A team. That team was local and was the best coached team DD has been on so far. Bummer it didn't continue. Coach had his reason which were good to not continue with the team...
The Spring season is around the corner for us. We played two round robin type tourneys, but won't be playing any trophy tourneys for about a month. Some issues have surfaced and DD is having a hard time with her current coach. More of a personality conflict than anything. She had a horrible...
The Nokona Buckaroo break in faster than some other Nokonas or other high quality gloves. The Buckaroo is specific for softball. I have two Nokonas. The black Buckaroo and the BM76 Banana Tan H web. Both are as good as a glove will get. That said, I had a great phone conversation with...
23 if playing only for the frosh team. Don't see her moving up this year since numbers are so low.
Travel will be way more games once we get started. Already played 4 scrimmages and plan another two this Sunday.
The other thing about trying other mitts is how they fit different hands. I have a Nokona Buckaroo that fits different than DD's Mizuno--might be the GXS33--( got it on ebay used for less than $90 but checked and it was $190 new ). The Nokona spreads my thumb too far from my hand and I would...
As much as I'd love to endorse the members on this board, buying and using a catcher mitt requires more than a familiar name ( no offense ). I'd suggest buying several mitts from an online retailer that has a great return policy, and one from Vinci's if they will allow you to return it.
DD...
I'm not sure how often this happens in your neck of the woods. Just saw this post on Facebook over the weekend. HS teammates, who now play in college in different schools, played against each other! Both were standout pitchers with one taking her team to a state championship. Klicker (...
I wasn't aware we could sell stuff on this website.
I have too many Nokona gloves. This black Buckaroo I purchased about 1 year ago. LHT. Used sparingly. Never thrown to the ground. Always with a ball in the pocket in a small bag. Sells for $239. I'll let this one go for $180 shipped...
The kangaroo leather ( Buckaroo ) is a great glove. Lighter than most gloves and easily broken in, yet sturdy. DD has had one ( 12.5 ) for three years and recently was sent to Nokona for new laces. DD loves the glove and won't consider any other.
We bought her glove here:

DD's Nokona came back Friday. First practice of the year yesterday and she said it felt as it always did. Even Nokona told me there would be stiffness, but DD insist it's fine. Turn around time was about a month, so I'm glad we got it in when we did. Just in case anyone was wondering.
Another 12.5 Nokona Buckaroo, but black. Plays OF. Lightweight, break-in isn't too long. Just back from Nokona for new laces for another few years of use. Not as stiff as we were told it would be after new laces.
A lot of what you say rings true for our area too. Two HS with softball. One 4A and the other 2B. Sometimes they get the opportunity to play each other in a jamboree. Cross town rivals! This will be DD's first year in HS. Should be playing JV, but we'll see. The chance to play in HS ( in...
