Hello!
I've been absent from the forum for quite a while now
I'm sorry about that...
Turns out that both my knee caps were basically destroyed by condromalacya.. I'm still struggling with the pain but I'm getting better slowly.
Because of that I've been away from the field and unfortunately...
Jaysz,
Brushing only helps if you have a relaxed and bent arm. It seems to me DD has too much tension in the arm
Think of the motion of a ball kick. If you try it with a stiff leg - no matter how much flexion you have - there will be no acceleration in the lower segment
And that's why I don't...
Jaysz,
The youtube video is no longer available so I'm assuming the young lady in the GIF is you DD
IMO her timing is not bad.. But the most important is she's not decelerating the upper arm by brusing it. And by brushing I mean bumping, but not too hard at the point you would hurt the elbow...
Hi Mothgirl,
Here goes my humble suggestion for you:
Try to break the whole pitching motion into two more basic phases:
1 - drive, foot contact, ball at 11:00
In this phase you just focus on acchieving the position described. Don't pay attention to your arm speed. Just focus on having it at...
I agree.. but even if it did, it wouldn't be a bad thing.
If the batter is counting on the slap sound to time the pitch, an off-speed pitch with the same slap sound will fool the batter easier
Check the video at 0:12.
Lacey's left thigh is quite red because of slapping.
I woundn't mind about that. In fact, I would encourage a pitcher to have a slight slapp
JMO
I respectfully disagree with you. If speed is not important, why should we care about having a strong drive, doing I/R and other mechanical stuff?
You can't, unless the speed is 50-52 or higher. You need spin AND speed to generate magnus effect.
One can hit spots with a slow pitch motion and...
Hips closed, legs not fully extended, circle path clear and right arm in front of the body
Hips closed, legs not fully extended, left arm jamming the circle path and right arm a little past the hips
Gotta hold that right arm
Mothgirl,
Please take a look at this video of Ueno pitching
Pay close atention of what she does with her left arm when the right arm is going front-up.
I found that this style is comom in Japan and I believe this helps a lot in terms of timing. The left arm can't go as fast as the right arm...
Not exactly
The upper arm should decelerate when it reaches the rib cage. At 9 o'clock the arm takes advantage from the ground reaction forces and accelerates more..
Note that the deceleration we're talking about is not a conscious effort. I mean you don't try to decelerate it. It happens...
Here goes my little piece of advice.
When it comes to arm circle, acceleration must be gradual. The peak of acceleration must happen at the last moment when ball is delivered.
To me she's russhing with her arm (and motion) at the beggining and slowing it down at delivery. When you do that, you...
Don't be sorry, in fact I'm really relieved you don't make the laws of physics. I was beginning to suspect you did... Thanks for the clarification
I believe in what I see.
I really don't mind if the ball is spinning back, sideways or any possible angle you can imagine. If it works, then great...
I just don't get it... is it that much difficult to see that the spins are so different (although both seem to be bullet like)?
Life is not just white and black.. there's also 50 shades of gray in between (sorry for the pun)
It sounds like we must have perfect backspin axis or perfect...
JJ,
Please, can you capture this one with your tools??
LSU vs Auburn, may 28, first inning, top half, second batter, third strike.
Slow motion replay with camera behind catcher. Good chance it's a 1-7 backspin, but my copy is low definition
Thanks!
