I agree here. That message is tremendous and deserves to be in a more communal location of the diamond. If it is in the dugout, maybe keep it to her quote as an inspirational message for the home team. But I have no issues with the original message and would display it so all the visitors can see.
I agree. It is utter bs. We messed up the football season too. I share your viewpoints as being a rule follower and listening to medical "experts". But the fact that other conferences/states/regions have figured this out and the midwest is still playing scared, infuriates me. I think it is...
Last year our team's pins were in a cinch sack with the team logo and girls number on it. When the girls traded a pin, they pinned it on the outside of their cinch sack.
When the bag was empty, it became their sunflower seed/bubble gum sack bag. 8U girls...
Seeing a lot more of this in central Ohio too. Although the World Series at Berliner last year, they only gave the girls 4 pitches total. Our rec league however still uses a pitching machine at 8U. The only good thing about that is each kid is getting the same ball.
@uncdrew pretty much summed it up. We had our girls (10U B) hitting 53 consistently off the machine because we thought they were overwhelmed with the speed at the plate. Hasn't helped in our early spring tournaments. Just meant they could time up the machine. I have tried all the cues (stride to...
In the same boat as you. DD is quiet but loves playing the game. She only gets down on herself when she isn't getting her pitches called. Could care less if she gives up a big hit, but that outside corner doesn't get called? All in her feelings.
Trying to focus less on the call of the pitch.
Yep. We thought about switching teams but any competitive teams already have a decent set of pitchers. It is frustrating as a parent though when coaches don't always see the potential in front of them. Our 1st base girl had 4 errors in one of our pool play games. Nothing changed for the...
I guess I could have said we have 1 "pitcher" and 1 "thrower". lol. Our 2nd loses all control after about the 2nd inning. Mind you we are 10U, everybody is still learning everything at this point. It is not so bad right now in these doubleheaders we are playing, but we have some good tournaments...
No stamina. Accuracy is shakey at the start of the game. Completely gone after the 2nd inning.
Mind you, this is 10U. Most games are only lasting 4 innings anyway. Which is why ace was in quotations as well. lol.
DD is a 1st year 10U pitcher. Our plan is exactly what @marriard typed out.
Communicated with the TB Coach, I am assisting with the rec team (since I am commissioner as well).
Communication is key. Everyone is on the same page.
See this a lot from a local 10U travel team. Coaches totally inappropriate, chest bumps, and the like. As a coach myself, all I do is a fist bump with the girls. Big hits, nice plays, and the like, everything gets a fist bump.
We aren't to 12U yet but DD played on an 8U team and is on a 10U team now. She is always the smallest on the teams, but both coaches have said she is the most improved over the winter.
That is what I preach to her when DD gets down for being small. She has to accept the challenge of outworking...
This.
I talk to my daughter a lot about controlling only what she can control. If she starts worrying about others that didn't make their play, she is going to forget about what she is supposed to be doing in the circle. Stay positive.
lol. Welcome to my frustration zone. We constantly have to get 5 to 6 outs per inning.... Suppose to be a "B" team. I just keep telling her we have to work harder in practice.
