The safety dance will be experimental beginning in the 2022-23 academic year with the approval of the double first base for NCAA according to this press release:

With R3 on third base, B2 hits a fair ground ball to F3 who fields the ball beyond first base. F3 throws to F2 attempting to retire R3. The throw hits B2 who is running in fair territory in the last half of the distance to 1B and does not intentionally interfere with the ball.
What say you...
With MiLB moving second base closer to home plate in the second half of this season making the bases a true square, is this a change that will/should come to softball?
(Edit) And no, not April Fool's...
There is a post currently in the rules forum about interference by the batter and it branched out into an umpire coaching a C on throwing down to 3B despite her worries of hitting the batter. I would like to ask the following question(s):
1) When, if ever, is it OK for an umpire to 'coach' one...
In another recent thread RADcatcher suggested I start a thread about what are and aren't proper things for an umpire to discuss with a player (especially the C).
I will go over my personal first inning spiel and a short laundry list of things I have talked to catchers about in the past...
There have been quite a few threads recently about the strike zone and about what makes a “good umpire”. In light of a recent conversation I had with another denizen of this forum, who said it would be better to try to keep threads more focused than I can tend to do, I would like to start a...

She wore the same sleeve in today's game v Sam Houston, I would have posted that link but it was...
BR hits a slow roller up the 1b line. F3 keeps foot on bag as she stretches up the line to field ball. BR is in the running lane until last step so no issue there. If there is contact between BR and F3 at the bag as all three elements come together (BR F3 and ball) what do you have?
Umpires, we hope they are perfect in their first game and get better every day afterwards. They strive for the very same thing. But what makes the perfect umpire? Some would say it is about calling the rules as written, others want umpires to exercise judgment and discretion, especially at the...
R2 on 2B, R3 on 3B, no out. B1 hits sinking line drive to RF. F9 fields it on the hop and throws a bullet to F2. R3 ends up in a rundown between 3B and HB. R2 advances to and is standing on 3B, BR advances to 2B on the throw from the outfield. F2 in possession of the ball as R3 retreats...
