I used keep our pitching mound, circle, lane, rubber, perfect for her meaning nice and level / flat. She's not a digger but I dug out a push off angle at the rubber. Since most if not all rubbers she pitches off of have that dug out.
I agree. My DD team has Pitcher backing up home which I dont like. Her previous team had 1st backing up home which I think works much better. And Pitcher can cut off if needed as well as close to the circle.

Back to the Bug squishing. I've been playing around with making sure the knee is inside the foot for maximum drive from the leg. Ala Pujols.
If it makes you or her feel any better. We've all been there. You have to start somewhere and start improving from there.
As said earlier in this post do what the best do. It may help to let her watch some videos of the best pitchers and let her try to copy them.
