Certainly possible. Thats all we can think of as well.
The team played a full season last year. This senior had less than 15 ABs total in 2.5 season before this season and had never started a game. She didn't even play DDs position until this year so it's not like she was an establish talent.
I don't disagree the coach has 'his plan' and fully understand that its choice to do so. I can still disagree. The results and stats definitely don't support the choice. DD has played in 17 games and started 11. That should be enough to see it isn't just beginner's luck.

The edit was more of a joke that didn't go anywhere.
As a follow up to this however, yes DD started the game 1 yesterday of a DH against a nationally ranked team. Got 3 ABs, went 1-3. Game went extra innings and she was removed for the senior. Long story short, senior went hitless and had an...
Lol, amazing what triggers people. You sure have a bug up your nose about what you think I said. I simply said stay away from the extremes. Never even got remotely close to saying 'remove all movement'.
Be less concerned with 'winning the argument' and more concerned with giving age-appropriate...
I like no stride. I think she looks pretty good for a newbie just trying it. Just be careful with all the little bits she adds for timing. A no-stride swing can be super compact and quick, but those little extras can really slow down the timing, ending up with a negative load that never comes...
Just forget the letter. You will regret that the second you send it.
I however understand your frustration 100%. Unless the HC kept a ringer on the bench the entire game, your DD should get the chance to lead in that moment.
All coaches are 'new' at some point and although your DDs school...
While I certainly don't know you or your DD, I think the other comments do have a point. You and her are not the same person with the same experiences. Just pass along your experience and let her make the decision. MAKING her play just seems a little draconian and for no real benefit.

I don't think teenagers regret anything. Its just the teenage mindset.
I wouldn't worry too much about sitting out a season. For my DD, if you didn't play a winter sport you had 'volunteer but attendance will be taken' off-season softball workouts.
While my DD had no problem wanting to find...
Maybe there is a misunderstanding about my so-called 'shotgun' approach. I'm not talking about creating one generic email to "Dear College Softball Coach" and sending it to 50 schools. You have to personalize each one with bits about the school, or the softball program, conference, or at least...
This may not help, but I know what you are going thru. The feeling of 'why them' I have learned, is very common and ultimately doesn't mean much. Sometimes its just dumb luck.
Just keep plugging. Don't do the shy, polite young lady routine. Be the loud, hard to miss, chick. It works. I promise.
Back in my baseball days, regardless of a runner on 1 or not, we would always watch the lead off on 3. If the kid was busting off the bag hard everytime, which is what lots of coaches teach, then we would ignore him for a few pitches to try to get him to think we didn't care. This would consist...
We had a somewhat similar issue of DDs major being her priority which did cause grief with some coaches.
When we felt we were desperate, (looking back on it, we shouldn't have felt that way) she used our recruiting site to email literally every coach in our state as well as every coach in the...
Trouble in the making here.
In my opinion, this is a heavy-handed rule whose wording catches WAY more than what it was intended to regulate. While I do agree that the rule as written would apply here, I personally don't see anything wrong with the way this played out. If the pitcher has the...
He has a lot in the title:
"Runners on first and third, 10u travel ball. Last year we threw to 4 then to 2 with a tag out then to 4. Totally different year. Opinions please"
