Welcome aboard. I’m also from MA and my kids were in 10U and coach pitch when I registered here. Now they are in 18U and 14U. Hope you learn as much as I do from the board.

My DD’s training facility has one. She tried it out with her batting coach and she said that it really does emphasize her sequencing to get the slider to move correctly to contact.
When she switches to her Whisper it takes a few balls to get the adjustment right, but it seemed to get her hips...
15. But she's been on restrictions since the start of August and is following her PT regimen well. Hopefully, the bone re-scan next week will get the OK to remove the boot.
Half of the ask is that she's looking for something different than her existing PT and the other half is wanting to play...
My 18U has been wearing them for two seasons. Finally was able to get into dailys this year. The biweekly were cheaper, but in softball there was always the chance they would get ripped.
12U just went to them this season. We needed to trial a bunch but she is in dailys also.

For anyone else's DD that's gone through the same thing - any recommendations for a softball strength program or progression that can be done while one leg is on the mend? We've been adapting a number of her existing drills by kneeling or eliminating some of the movements, but I was wondering if...
I use the NCAA definition for defensive indifference when scoring - only in the bottom half of the last inning.
Now wild pitch vs passed ball? That I have trouble with….[emoji23]

Up here in the Northeast - some of the 14U teams I've seen could give my local HS varsity team a run rule and that's probably the case elsewhere too.
This has been discussed on the board before - HS teams are at best weird combinations of different ages and skill levels where the HS coach...
It looks like the UIL hearing concluded today.

“During discussion it was revealed that the catcher has had at least four other incidents like this, two during...
Not strictly related to umpiring, but we had a weird situation about the two-feet-on/step-back change for pitching in my state a few years ago. The statewide athletics administration in its infinite wisdom did not adopt the change to allow step-back when NFHS did. So at all levels, we saw...
Just catching up on this. The 2022/2023 NCAA rules has this section which supports all the runs being unearned:
14.23.3
Unearned runs… After the defensive team has had an opportunity to record three outs employing only ordinary effort, any subsequent runs that score shall be unearned. A run is...
Yeah, my DD is in a similar situation. It makes her have 3 games a week as opposed to just playing for one team and having a break. Definitely not happening next season.

That’s actually something I should mention. Because of the rushed hiring, the head coach asked for volunteers from the town softball association. So the JV coach is an unpaid volunteer with a kid on the JV team and is/was a 12U coach maybe 5 years ago.

Hey,
Hopefully, I'm not the only one that thinks this is strange. The old coach of our HS team left in February and we got a new coach just a week before tryouts. 53 girls tried out, no cuts, but with 9 returning seniors, no chance for my DD to make varsity. During tryouts, she slapped, was put...
Our HS has about ~1900 students 9-12. Up to this year (spring 2023), the school only had 20-24 girls try out so we had V and JV squads, pretty evenly split for about 3 years. The old coach leaves in January 2023 and 53 girls tried out this year. The new HS coach started in March and is not...
My DD’s 32/22 is an outlier. Weighed in at 22.85 oz, but she says she prefers it this way. Feedback is that it swing lighter than her CF which was 22 oz exactly.

I agree. I saw UCF’s Twitter that their game was delayed because this one was in the 10th and I was shocked to see the pitch count. Yikes.

Good timing on this topic. I found this podcast with Skylar Wallace that came out this month on her baserunning. DD got a few tips from it.
