Incorrect.
Brooke was killing the ball during fall ball and practice during her freshman year with the swing I taught her.
Unfortunately during workouts while lifting she blew her knee out.
She had to medically redshirt her freshman year. Meanwhile a new “hitting coach” was hired and...
Work on sequencing Howser and not "forcing" the movements. I would suggest doing some high tee drills also to create the feel of not letting her hands drop and that should also help create a better feel of the hands resisting that you can build off of.
I have a hunch that once she understands...
Always tweak during the off season and compare in season swings versus what you built during the off season. Mechanics are obviously important but the ability to read a pitch early is just as important. Unfortunately in college you will get hitting coaches that like to change a lot of things...
The biggest thing we've always focused on was coiling into the backside and maintaining that coil until she was ready to unload by resisting with her hands against it i.e. turning the barrel with the hands. IMO the hands control the barrel and the upper half. It makes it less complicated for...
lhowser,
Your DD is explosive and athletic. A lot of good things going on with her just keep working and she'll get where you and she wants to. Like anyone Brooke has some things I would like to see improve but overall pretty satisfied with where she is. We did get the chance to reinstall some...
Julray,
what I would recommend is narrowing up her stance and letting her stride out and see what that fixes. She's starving for a a power source which is why her swing is all upper body and locking her lower half and hands out. I think you'll be surprised at how much better her swings looks...
Well I'm not going to be PC and say I didn't push my DD because I most definitely did. Many tears were shed along the way and I would redo some of the things that I did. I'm a firm believer that 99% of successful athletes are that way because of being pushed.
The amount of sacrifice it takes...
BINGO. Brooke was struggling bad with dumping the barrel and popping everything up for about 2wks straight. I showed her game swings and took still shots to show Her timing was perfect and other than creating a elbow pivot point instead of a hand pivot point her mechanics were perfect.
She was...
Turning the triangle is an extremely difficult yet important part of the swing. Focus too much on it and you will create an elbow pivot point which will end up dumping the barrel instead of a hand pivot point which will deliver the barrel on plane on time.
What controls the barrel?
