It drives me crazy when parents during a game, or even worse, when their kid is at bat, giving instructions loudly for all to hear. It happened during middle school games last year, when my DD was still recovering from knee surgery, just watching the games...a dad had to loudly tell his DD how...
Good news. On her 12th birthday yesterday, DD got her full release from Dr. Jasko at Marshall Sports Medicine. To say DD is happy and excited would be an understatment. Dr stated that he will start on a paper to be submitted to medical journal(s) (which ones I have no idea) regarding her...
DD did not get released early as expected. Needs a little work and you can see how she is light on the left leg when she moves to throw. Arm is fine and rested, leg needs some extra care. She was extremely disappointed with the Dr appt, but now she works for an August release.
I have an update. We met with Dr Jasko at Marshall U this week and he said DD is healing extremely fast and therapy was working great. He wants her back in six weeks and may, just may, fully release her to play ball two full months earlier than he expected; he did release her for the swim team...
Mizuno has a good glove in the $60 range - Prospect Select -my middle DD is on her second one and my youngest DD has her first one - easy break in and at that age I don't think you need a glove specifically for First Base. But any of the gloves mentioned above will probably last longer.
I was just talking about this with one of my DD's last night at a middle school softball game, but in regard to batting. Let her be at the plate and bat. Anything you tell her as she stands in that box will only add to the million things going through her head already. Same for pitching. At...
My middle DD had really good 8u coaches when she was 7 and just learning the game. They really taught that young team a lot of situational awareness in practice and it paid off for my daughter. But I will add, in my opinion, watching baseball or softball on TV helps quite a bit. We watch 4 to...
Stitches out yesterday and healing well, but was told the meniscus Dr had to cut back from 90% to 40% coverage, actually had a 90% tear in it as well. Due to the extensiveness of the surgery, her rehab is now 5 months and not 3 - they want to be conservative. So, with that news, I won't be...
Thank you all. DD's surgery went very well, but Dr had to do more work than what he planned - she is out 3 months minimum and wearing a huge brace for the time being. I assume she will come back and be stronger, faster and even more agile than she is now. We shall see.
My DD used a Mizuno Prospect 32.5" catchers mitt for two seasons and loved it - super easy to break in. It finally gave in and I replaced it. Very inexpensive, but won't last forever.
Well, we knew it was coming but did not think it would be this soon, but my middle DD who is in the 6th grade and 11 yo will have to get her knee fixed. Dr. Jasko at Marshall Sports had told us, after an MRI, that DD has Discoid Meniscus, which is a thickening of the meniscus and hers was...
Maybe I should have said softball players and not "good" lol But I agree with you as well - easier to convert a SS to OF. But on my DD's team, there are probably only three capable of playing the OF really well and one is playing SS and the other 2B, and my daughter will move from C/1B to CF...
I tell my middle DD (11 yo) "You may be the best, or one of the best Catchers, but your team is better when you play First. You may be the best at 1B, but your team may be better when you are playing 3B, and you may be the best at 3B, but your team is much better when you are playing CF." Some...
