How important are stats?
As I've stated before, I'm a stats guy. I set my lineup and batting order based on what the stats tell me. I've done it that way for forty years, rarely tells a lie. :)- bobkat

Phandle- True absolutely, I agree once more. But unless you are near mercy your lineup is pretty much the starting team, with maybe a few changes to get other players playing time. SP is a bit different, however most coaches match strength with strength, some follow a strict rotation with RP...- bobkat

Huh, So your an rear, nothing wrong with that. Not bragging just telling my truth. My W/L record includes recball to travelball to HS ball, impressed or not....but it's true. Yup, she can throw 68mph w/ 35mph change, and play SS with the best and as skilled a 1st basemen as you could find. She...- bobkat

OUR W/L record comes along with a fantastic developmental program or you wouldn't be able to say it on a forum like this. All stats. In most cases once the lineup is set along with batting order, it's pretty static as you might expect. However [parent's meddling aside], I might flip batters in the lineup based on pitcher, previous games, runners, bunters etc. Also, if a batter is on a recent "hot streak". Also keep...- bobkat

I'm keeping the book. And I know how. Stats are really not a mystery if you have kept book for 40+ years. You name it, spiral bound or gamechanger, I've done it. And back to the discussion, Why wouldn't you use a players' stats to set a lineup and/or batting order. ???- bobkat

How important are stats?
I coached softball for 40 years, HS, Rec, Travelball etc. . My winning % speaks for itself on all levels. I liked keeping book so that I could use stats to set my lineup and batting order. 99% of the time my starting lineup was based off my stats. Remember, this is competitive softball not...- bobkat

Should goal be college?
Interesting post! When my g-daughter was 9-10, she started pitching, nothing crazy, just the basic fundamentals. Thru the years, she worked with different pitching coaches as well. Scoring stat question
Runner on 3rd. Batter lofts a flyball to CF, sightly windy, ball ticks off her mitt. Runner scores Batter ends up on 3rd. Triple? Error on CF all the way? Batter scored ruled Sac fly, RBI and 3B error on CF.- bobkat
