    OF Glove Recommendations?

    Thanks, I'll check it out!

    OF Glove Recommendations?

DD is 16U 2B/SS and got a Rawlings Pro1000 last year. She loves it! However, she is pretty decent in the OF and coaches occasionally like to put her there. She makes due with her Rawlings but I'd like her to have a glove with a pocket more suitable for outfield. Also don't want to spend a...

    Back yard batting cage?

I think there's a need for actual tee work, side toss, front toss, machine work (some may argue this one), live pitching, etc. However, we all also have to work with what we've got for budget and space. Having said that, it sounds like you've found a decent alternative. I've been considering...

    Softball v. Baseball Glove?

DD is 16U 2B/SS and got a Rawlings Pro1000 last year. She loves it! Adjust the laces to the closer set of holes on the wrist and you're good to go. She does not have especially big hands for fingers and no issues whatsoever for her.

How is travel for college away games handled?

I tried to search online for answers and can't seem to find much information. It seems D1 colleges have big budgets for football, but I'm wondering about softball. Does the school pay for travel, hotels, food, etc.? And what about D2 and D3 schools?

What is scored for batter? Sac Fly or no?

I'm not exactly sure. I wasn't there and only posted as a favor to one of the player's mother's who was scoring the game in GC. The father of DD who hit the ball was complaining that her hit should have been scored Sac Fly and credited with an RBI.

What is scored for batter? Sac Fly or no?

HS game (NFHS) Runner on 2B, batter hits fly into outfield. CF catches, runner rounds 3B to home. CF throws to home for what should have been a tag out of runner, but catcher drops ball, runner scores. Obviously an error for the catcher, but how should it be scored for the batter?

    New Glove time

Just got one of the ProTs. Amazing! DD is excited to get started with it; going to play our first round of catch now. It's not as stiff as I thought it would be. Hard to capture it in pictures, but here are a few.

When was the first time you ever saw fastpitch?

He seemed to be the real deal. My father and brother who played against him, along with the other guys on the team they put together, were all very good ball players. They struggled to get any hits off him. A common thing he would do ...and he did it to one of the guys on my father's team...

When was the first time you ever saw fastpitch?

Same as a few others on here ...mid 1970's. My older brother and father played in a league. I think it was '77 or '78 when they were able to play against the King and his Court ...they sure traveled all over. We were way up in northern NY (Massena)! No yellow balls back then (or raised seams).

    New Glove time

Well, the pics and 10% discount were all I needed to push me over the edge. :) Got one on the way! Thanks.

    New Glove time

Wow! Those pics are awesome and give a great sense of what it looks like with softballs. Thanks for that!

    New Glove time

She's always been a pretty good fielder; better than most around her. But yes, I haven't ruled out she could be developing a fielding issue. I just haven't been able to see anything stand out ...or her coaches. Having said that, if the depth of the PRO1000HC isn't quite enough for softball...

    New Glove time

Jumping in here ...and get back to OT :) ....DD is a 14 yo mid-fielder and has the 12" A2000 SR and been using it for about a year and a half. She's complaining about the ball popping out (I've seen it a couple times too) and just doesn't seem real happy with it. Also, as Annasdad stated, the...

The other side to the "Multi-Sport Athlete"

I think the "evolution" of youth sports now vs. even 5 years ago, much less 10 years ago, needs to be taken into consideration. What kids experienced 5-10 years or more ago cannot be compared to today's kids. Year-round travel, club, AAU, etc. programs have taken over youth sports. The...

Frustration with composite bats - material inside breaks apart far too soon

Yes, that is what I am referring to. Most coaches (including hitting coaches) say that means the bat is "broken." Also, I've been to a couple tournaments in which umpires will check for that and not allow the bat to be used.
