I’d like to hijack this a little because I came here for almost the same question, my DD has always thrown a version of gyro spin, either 3-9, or 2-8, 1-7. Any good drills to work on 12-6, we’d like to get her drop working correctly.
I was told by someone who tested the replacement bat before they were sent to the public, that they said they had to take a little pop off the bat. So it wasn’t just a fix of the handle.
She is seeing a dr for it, they’re at a loss to why it’s not better after 6 weeks off, it may just take more time idk.
We’re just trying to determine the root cause of it, so it stops happening.
Thanks her issue is she had this last year, but kept pitching because the dr’s thought it was something else, we rested it completely for 3 mount and it was better after doing some stretching. It eventually came back even with the stretching, so it’s led us to think it’s something she’s doing...
So my DD had been hurt last year with a rhomboid area injury, well she has it again. She got a mri and it was a serratus anterior strain, after resting it for nearly 2 months it’s not fully better.
Does anyone have experience with kids and this injury? What in mechanics can cause it?
Couldn’t be truer! I stopped telling my kid anything, batting or pitching a long time ago, She has enough to worry about without me filling her head with swing thoughts right before an at bat.
Second question, how intense are the camps at showcases for pitchers. I don’t want to send my kid to a 3 hour pitching camp where she throws 300 pitches before a tournament.
She used to be a cf fan, but changed to a ghost, now they feel weird to her.
I’ve been told the smaller handle has an effect on bat speed through the zone, thoughts on that?
That makes more sense, my DD has always been taught the opposite, square up the ball.
I’ve seen quite a few ppl using this bat, it’s hot but I don’t think anymore than a cf would be.
Oh so more of a slice.
Weird that the thought on this is more spin will make the ball go farther. Where in golf less spin has been proven to be better for distance, with the use of launch monitors.
