Good stuff Ken, thanks! I actually found this thread before I posted. Definitely working on firming up but she's dealing with some back issues(hereditary) that make it hard for her at the moment but it's on the list of things to do.- guyonabuffalo

I've talked to her about this and it's something that she will be working on as well. Agreed. The stabilization of the front leg has been somewhat of an issue for a long time. Amongst the other things, something else we are working on. Thanks for your input!- guyonabuffalo

This has been my experience as well while coaching, it's bananas to me. As a youngster, I always threw an overhand throw with backspin and so did most of the people that I played with.- guyonabuffalo

I would dare say that the "swim" is a newer technique that is taught with pitchers that are more closed/hips facing the catcher when they release the ball versus an older technique where the ball is released with the hips more open. I agree there is no such thing as "natural bullet spin", maybe I worded it poorly. What I meant to say is that every time she throws a fastball, it has some sort of spin, usually bullet, or movement to it. It's been like that for as long as I can remember. We're at the point of trying rough guesses(lol) but it goes along the lines of what I was thinking as well. I feel she probably needs to be a bit more open at release as she finds it's hard to throw the ball going across her body. Her natural release seems to be right off the hip.- guyonabuffalo

Ok, yes that makes sense. This issue starting to rear it's ugly head about the time the hips were developing. Also, previous PC had her hips more closed upon release and it didn't happen quite as often as it does now. We'll give this a try. Thank you for your input!- guyonabuffalo

She has natural bullet spin on her fb. My guess is her hand is compensating at release to go in the right direction and it puts the spin on the ball. That's just a theory though.- guyonabuffalo

She throws a turnover but funny thing is her fb has a tendency to drop sometimes, like she's throwing a peel. Tried to get her to replicate because it had good drop on it but she just couldn't do it. Yes, she hit it here. It varies how hard she hits here thigh. Sometimes just a little, like in these clips, and sometimes to the point where the ball heads into the ground.
