She’s getting her to get to a more driving drag style. It’s just taking a while (and my DD is a bit hard headed). She drives a lot more in the second video than the first, even if it’s not that much yet.
*edit* and thank you for the videos!
Could you explain this a bit for the more dense here (me for example!)
So my daughter used to do a step back but it was screwing up her timing so her instructor switched it to a start back approach. She’s been working with her on her stride now, it’s the weakest part of her delivery, I think...
Huge props to you getting out there. My wife won’t catch either of my girls. My older one isn’t very fast, high 40s maybe touching 50 at 14U but wins by placing and spinning the ball and keeping the batters off their toes.
But my 10U girl is mid 40s already and more wild since, you know, 10U...
My daughter has been seeing a wonderful instructor since the beginning of fall ball this past season. She’s a second year 10U pitched a little last year but mostly just what I could teach her in the back yard (which wasn’t a ton, obviously)
Anyway I have a comparison video between September and...
Scheduling field usage for regular season and a tournament. What's the smallest field size that's okay for a 14U town travel team. Level of teams are ones that may play in C level tournaments but aren't usually winning them. I have a 174/200/179 field, which I think is a LITTLE small, but...
It was a USSSA tournament 12U C.
It was the Batter/runner that collided with the pitcher between home and 1st base, about 1/2 way up the line.
As far as intent, there was no intent on either girl to hit the other. Batter was running hard to first not even looking at the ball (as we teach...
Not really a big deal, and if I'm right and the call was missed, it actually went in our favor, but I'm just curious so I understand the rules better.
Lead off batter for the inning. Pops up in between home and 1st, but slightly foul (2-3 feet foul or so.) Runner books down baseline, and...
Technically true. I never have argued with an umpire and don't plan to start now! Umpires blow a call, make mistakes, have a strike zone I may not agree with, etc, but over the course of my girls' softball days, good and bad calls will even out. I've occasionally asked for a rule...
Played in a USSSA tournament last weekend. 10U
Runners at 1st and 3rd
Girl swings at a bad pitch, very low. Chop hits it off the plate, very obviously to me (coaching 1st) and 3B coach, and it pops straight up between home and 1st. 1B comes in and catches it. Because it hit off the plate...
Okay, great! Other than calling it dead instead of letting them play I had the reason for the girl being safe correct. Both infielders attempted to get to the ball, and could not and passed both of them, so in softball that's a passed ball, live play. And the parent might have been correct...
It wasn’t that bad. But it doesn’t seem that the younger the kids, the less parents know the rules and the more they insist they’re right. In this case it was much more of just trying to understand the rules which I’m good with.
This play happened in my practice last night. 8U, very young team, we need a lot of work but we're getting better. Playing a little 6 on 6 scrimmage just to get them a bit of a feel for how the game flows. I'm pitching but also trying to call outs so that the girls can start to understand...
Local sports league canceled ALL spring sports (softball, baseball, soccer, lax, etc) for two weeks starting today to be re-evaluated weekly. Then when you add in school's spring break, we'll be lucky to start the spring season by mid April. Shove it all into 6 weeks, I guess between start of...
Held our rec clinic last night for rec girls. 82 girls signed up for the rec program. 10 showed up,
My older daughter (2nd year 10U) practiced with them. She's in her third year of travel ball. She's a decent player, but no where near the top of our current team, bottom third, probably...
