Rukket hitting net - great customer service from this company

Just wanted to post a good review of a company that stands behind its products. Bought a Rukket 7x7 hitting net on Amazon about 3 years ago. Great net, lots of use, no issues with it. Went to set it up for pregame warm-ups the other night and realized a piece was missing. The silver...

    Tagging a Force Out question

This. Our rec league recruited a bunch of HS players for our local USA ump coordinator as the shortage around here was getting to be a bit crazy and was impacting our games, especially during HS season. None of these kids came back the next season. 16 year old girls getting yelled at by grown...

How do you interpret this rule about tie breaker?

Yes it does seem, from my reading here and from what some of our friends have said about TB, that some of the joy is sucked out of the game with all the traveling and expense and focus on winning and getting recruited. I used to be envious of the parents whose kids were playing TB because from...

How do you interpret this rule about tie breaker?

I didn't feel like it was a waste of time to play to 9 innings without using the tie-breaker - I love a close game and there was no reason to try to rush it closed. We had time and daylight available. I was just curious about how the rule was written for our league and how it is typically...

How do you interpret this rule about tie breaker?

Thanks! Not sure how I missed that when I looked.

How do you interpret this rule about tie breaker?

We played a straight 8th and a straight 9th inning! before we lost by 1 on a walk off sacrifice fly bottom of the 9th. Never got to use the tie breaker as the 8th was also quick so we were still under 1:45 and tied after 8.. We scored 1 in top of 9th but couldn’t hold them. Was a fun and...

How do you interpret this rule about tie breaker?

Yes it seems like such a ridiculous thing to deviate on. Thanks for the input.

How do you interpret this rule about tie breaker?

It's a summer rec league and we bat continuous so no pinch running or hitting. I couldn't find it specified anywhere in the rule book as to who the runner should be...

How do you interpret this rule about tie breaker?

I also thought that the tie breaker should kick in after regulation 7 innings. But on reading the rule, it does seem to indicate only after the time limit has expired. Makes no sense to me why it would be this way...

How do you interpret this rule about tie breaker?

Here is the rule from the rec league documents "The current rules of the ASA are in effect with the following notes, exceptions and highlights.  Time limit --- No new inning may begin after 1 hour and 45 minutes. If the game is tied, the international tie- breaker rule will be put into effect...

    Game plan or winging it?

Yes this is another approach that, while not my style, I can see the value but - only as long as it is made clear at the beginning that this is the plan.

    Game plan or winging it?

Hi. Thought I answered that in my follow up with more details. It's an inter-city rec league. We travel anywhere from next town over to about 30 miles away. There are A and B divisions. Our team plays in B. No elimination games or play offs. It's a pennant race. All games affect standings...

    Game plan or winging it?

Had a discussion with my fellow coach this morning. He said he likes to let them settle in to a position for a few innings before making changes. I told him that would work for me if he had a good plan mapped out for rotating in the later innings. If he wants to have the girls rotate sitting...

    Game plan or winging it?

Thanks for your input! Yes sounds like my confusion with the terminology. This is best described as a summer inter-city travel league. Each city has a team at each age division (sometimes multiple teams if there is both A and B levels within the age division). There are regional divisions...

    Game plan or winging it?

Thanks good to know I’m not way off base. I Was concerned that maybe I was being overly anal about it. I got thrown into head coaching about 5 years ago when the rec league was short handed. Had to figure most of it out for myself and have always mapped it all out to make it easier for me.

    Game plan or winging it?

Hi. I’m coaching 14u rec summer league - from reading on the forum I think that’s what you call all stars. Teamed up to coach with one of our other rec league coaches who is a friend and who has coached in our league for years. Officially I’m listed as head coach but we agreed to tag team a...

My rec league player is on our opponents tournament team...

Thanks to all who offered their opinion, advice, experiences and suggestions. It was very helpful to see this from several perspectives. To follow up – we won the elimination game and will be facing Team A tonight. I won’t be sitting C or moving her to the outfield. As I said earlier, I...

    Time to say good bye

I'm so sorry for your loss. We live in a neighboring town to yours and I had heard about what happened from some softball friends. Your family will be in our prayers.
