    Funny Plays

    Couple of years ago, 10u tournament game, DD is pitching. Batter hits a pop up into the sun, daughter loses it, screams, "I can't see it!" Sticks her glove in the air blindly and manages to catch it. The catcher for that game still brings it up every now and again.

    "Let it get deep.. (spawned from the Haley Thread in Practical Hitting)

    My daughter (10u) has a habit of swinging early, hitting the ball off the end of the bat. Her coach has used "Let it get deep" as a cue to her to wait just a bit longer before swinging. I'm sure it means different things to different people.

    Sit on a bucket with glove behind the bownet. This allows you to give her a target without getting killed.

    As a 10U coach I wonder about what I say being misconstrued by the umpire quite frequently. I will often times say "good miss" to my pitcher when she throws a ball that was called a ball but wasn't terribly off. I'm not intending to be passive aggressive or question the umpire, but literally...

    I can see stealing 2B to eliminate the force play if I'm confident she can get there safely. I'm not sure I see the justification of stealing 3B though.

    Too Many Teams

    I have a hard time believing that a sport that is growing in number and commitment is weaker than it was years ago. Perhaps those 15 "legitimate A teams" from yesteryear would be on par with today's B teams. I don't see how you drastically increase participation and the result is that everyone...
