    HS Softball Started

    3000+ enrolled, 45 started workouts, a few quit during workouts. I think 36 tried out, 32 made it (16 V, 16JV)

Being best player on bad team, or bench player on good team?

Why not go then and play for the top level 16U team as a 16 year old, when the entire team will be in the middle of their hottest recruiting timeframe, playing in the tournaments and fields college coaches will be actively looking for players; rather than on an 18U team not getting the most...

Does your HS team stream games?

If you are worried about opposing teams scouting by watching games.......come on now.

How far of a drive to a tourney before you decide to fly?

I always look at what do I want to drive back, not so much getting there. Leaving on a Thursday night is different than heading out on a Sunday afternoon after a long weekend. We always look at the balance of time off vs car rental vs flight costs. I enjoy driving so 10 hours or so is not...

Does your HS team stream games?

Our school has parents that volunteer to stream it through GameChanger. This year there is a dedicated parent that is doing all the games. They also have a local media company that does a handful of games, with announcers and graphics, for a sponsorship fee. The vast majority of games is...

    Playing Up 8U-10U

Don't play up, look for a better competition level, better coaching at your age group

Questions to ask and/or things to know when joining a large "national" team

Just because a name is on the team doesn't always mean that person is actually coaching/running the team - ask that Are you joining for recruiting purposes? Are you already committed? IE - want to be on the best fields in the best tourneys against the best competition in order to get seen...

What’s it like playing in a dome?

Domes are just like fields. Some are amazing, some are awful. All depends which ones you are at

    All-Star Paige Halstead gear

My daughter got this gear previously, mainly for the shin guards. She went back to using her Easton chest guard and helmet. Liked the shorter chest guard and for the mask the bar for the eye area is a little lower, so she didn't like that. Loves the shin guards as they have extra set of...

18U Player Looking for Nat Team or Guest

we are at 15U, playing on a national team. First off, if the dues are going to be a sticking point, go ahead and look for a different sport. Dues are just a drop in the bucket. We pay $2800 in dues. The real cost is travel - hotels, flights, rental cars, and lessons. This Fall is 2 flights...

18U Player Looking for Nat Team or Guest

Like @ChrisSB said - if you are looking to maybe guest with IMG (either Green, Gerth, or Loudermilk), shoot me a message and I can get you in touch with them. I work for the org. Those 18U teams play great schedules and against the best competition.

Tips for switching to a National Team

my DD has played several Bandits teams the past few years, and I've yet to see a single team that isn't top tier. Same thing with Corona Angels, at least across the 08/07 age group.

    Streaming camera

I'm a big fan as well as just using a phone to livesteam. The cameras are so good now, and GC and TagUp and others have options to adjust field of view now, so they work great. As a guy that has way too many cameras and stuff going, I am trying to focus on simplifying everything - the less...

    High School Program Information

My kid's school is a powerhouse, large school, really good program. This year - 16 varsity, 14 JV. 6 kids were cut (4 freshman, 2 juniors), and 2 seniors cut themselves. During fall workouts probably about 10 kids decided not to even try out after working out a few practices. It's crazy the...

    GameChanger

Why is it ridiculous? $30 a year for the ability to watch your team and tons and tons of other teams live feeds, video playbacks, and play by play, access to stats and automatically generated video clips of your kid.

    SmallRig Sale

Thanks for the heads up, picked one up to add to the camera bag.

    THE Spring Games

I absolutely love it, especially for the early part of the season. Tons of games, but also don't expect every single game to be covered, or to have ESPN primetime announcers or multi-cam coverage. But for watching softball, it's great.

Kentucky Softball a Bit Salty After Sunday

UK did have a runner step off in the top of the 8th, to move it along. They had a 3:30 drop set because of flights. Texas did 2 runner subs, had a girl ask for contact solution, and take extra pitches in the bottom of the inning. They were 1 strike away from it during the last runner sub, and...

    Where to watch College games

Gamechanger is streaming 3 games at a time, 3 times a day this weekend for free. FloSoftball has 4 tourneys being streamed. ESPN has a ton of games streaming as well.
