    Get RAD Catching Workout~

@The Man In Blue how do you like low pitches presented? Mouth of the glove facing up down or out towards the pitcher?

    Get RAD Catching Workout~

Adding to what @RADcatcher said I have my catchers relax the glove arm as the pitcher is releasing the ball. Does two things allows them to adjust and get under low pitches and also helps them keep the ball in the strike zone instead of being rigid and dragging the ball out of the zone. Also...

    Get RAD Catching Workout~

Is your preference for low pitches to catch with the glove turned over or working thumb underneath or catching with thumb pointing down and allowing the pitch to rotate the glove up?

    What is 'Chicken Wing'?

You’ve lost me, is your fix similar to the instructor in the video or different? Did you mean stiff front arm? Or am I just completely misunderstanding?

    What is 'Chicken Wing'?

Totally agree and in the first clip definitely pushing his hands a bit but I’m not sure what was shown is the appropriate fix. However looking at tee placement the ball looks a bit more outside so maybe that’s why he was so stiff in his front arm.

    Hands dropping

Based on your post title I think the best idea is get your hitter in front of a mirror and fix her sequencing. Hands dropping from what I’ve seen is usually just them loading early and then using their hand drop to time their swing. I usually tell my hitters their hands should be working into...

    What is 'Chicken Wing'?

Watched all of it not sure I like what he was showing. To get rid of the chicken wing he was having the kid intentionally straighten his front arm to create lag. Looked a lot more like drag to me

Going to lessons~What plan and path did you take?

Just had a hitting lesson today where her coach was complaining about her new move out and wanted her to take a quick jab step instead of what she had recently changed to which was more of a leg kick (said something about being vulnerable to change ups). In lessons doing her thing she smashes...

Oh gotcha you’re talking about the swing and miss or both of them?

You know I actually think that Marcela and my sister have similar adjustments to be made. She was at a similar spot at your daughters age mentally and performance wise. I just caught up with your post last night and from watching I really think all it is is a timing issue. We can nitpick...

    KK First year 14U

You know I thought something similar the way her bat bounced down like that, and I’m full speed it looks like she cut the ball a bit but here are a few stills(I’m not a fan of stills since they don’t tell the whole story but maybe decent here). In order is this not getting on plane early as the...

I think her hands are what save her when she’s rushing. In the swing and miss she doesn’t get as good of a move out as the HR swing. The second pitcher probably was throwing about 5-7 mph faster and it seems when I connected the two videos that she had the same timing although the pitcher was...

I’m using the coach’s eye app for IOS, let’s you compare two videos along with a few other features for marking up videos. I wish they made the subscription monthly though to get all the features

Finally got our first games in, been using this time in quarantine to work on some swing adjustments. I’ve seen posts by @pattar & @Eric F Chronicling their daughters journey so I thought I’d start one for my sister and get some feedback. Looking at her swing all the time it’s good to get...

    Follow-Through

I’m all for leaving a swing alone when it’s producing but you don’t see a bit of bat drag? Also from this angle and the way she follows through I see her top hand rolling over into contact. @Trojans29 what kind of velocity does she face 50’s 60’s?

What age to start throwing from knees?

I start teaching my catchers knee throws as soon as they have efficient arm path movements. I will tell you from my extremely anecdotal experience what I notice is that throwing from knees may be faster but I see slight loss in throwing velocity. Now I’m a big fan of teaching the entire...

    A hashed out subject

In the Cabrera clip I see his core pulling a dead back leg forward and then landing back into it. When you say the rear leg is the driver is that we’re actively pushing off of it? It controls our move forward? We drive the back knee forward and down as a step in the kinetic chain of the swing...

    A hashed out subject

I’d love to hear both of your interpretations on what one legged means to you. I keep seeing the phrase more and more recently and the person who mainly uses it just leaves vague comments and if there’s any disagreement you’re immediately an idiot. my interpretation of a one legged swing in...

    Hitting lesson tips

Patter mentioned giving the girls homework and I found the easiest way to do that is with PVC. Go to Home Depot and grab some 10’ 1/2” or 3/4” PVC pipes and cut them in half. I put a cap on one end and some electrical tape for a “grip”. Doesn’t require parents to have a tee net or any balls...
