"You look like you play softball"

My daughter left for Navy boot camp June 22nd. We're finally getting letters from her. Her last letter she wrote - on two different occasions she had girls come up to her and say "You look like you play softball" and she said one girl just calls her "softball" now. Found that pretty funny :)...

    All-Stars

My daughter played in her local rec league for the Spring and also participated in All-Stars the last month or so. In the regular season her team went 16-0 (won the End of Season tournament). And she just played in her 12th All-Star game and also went undefeated (winning three tournaments)...

    All-Navy Softball

Does anyone have any experience with the All-Navy Softball teams? My daughter is shipping out next week for Basic Training and she'll be in schooling for awhile after that but it looks like they can apply for it at the start of next summer. Just curious how competitive it is - it'd be cool if...

22May23 - Start of Iowa HS Softball Season

Apparently GA is all mixed up - We have softball in the fall and soccer in the spring Flag football and Basketball start right after softball (so some girls that play both miss those for softball playoffs) We do CC in the fall and Track in the spring. My daughter wanted to do CC but it...

    End of Season

DDs team had their End of Season tournament where they went 4-0 to win it. They ended 16-0 on the full season. DD ended with .650 BA and 1.775 OPS (again it's rec so pitching not as hard) - No Ks. We had another catcher at the start of the season but she was still very new to it so DD ended...

    High School Daddy Ball

Are any of the girls on the team also on the TB teams that the coaches coach for? I know you can't have a coach who coaches a player on both a HS and TB team (at least not in my state) . I would hope they don't also coach their kid's TB team? A soccer team in my state had their championship...

    High School Daddy Ball

I just find it odd that a parent is even coaching a HS team - wouldn't a private school be able to afford to get actual coaches? Is the coach going to leave once his daughter graduates? At least in our school you have to be a teacher as well in order to coach. We never had daddy ball on...

Whats your "Area" tradition or rule about what happens with OTF homerun ball?

We kept DDs first OTF ball in TB. She did not want the ball with her first HR in HS ball - but we did get a pic. She recently hit her first GS so we kept that ball. DD is not a HR hitter so every one is special to us :) Back in younger rec, they used to hand out game balls to someone who did...

    Grand slam

So my TB DD who decided to do Rec for her last season of SB (she's off to the Navy in June) has been having a good season so far in Rec. Her team is undefeated. They played their last regular season game today. We were up 6-1 early in the game and then due to some errors - the other team ended...

    Triple play

Not my kid but my kid's team. We were up 11-6 in the top of the last inning. Pitcher walks the first two batters. So runners on 1st and 2nd. Next batter hits a pop up that goes behind the pitcher but she manages to get to it and catch it but meanwhile - girl on 2nd is way off the base so our...

    High School Program Information

DDs school has almost 3k students. Had V (22) and JV (13) this past season. A lot of the girls on V really only played on JV - we tend to put all juniors on V even if they won't play. Most practices were together. In years past they did a lot of JV/V doubleheaders but this season we had a...

How to stop walk-athon in 10u?

When my oldest played (only played one season) she was in 10U. It was very boring and I actually asked about it because my youngest who had been playing already for a couple of seasons (she was still in 8U at the time) and her games were actually fun to watch. But they only did kid pitch in...

    this right here, eh

I hope you're joking - as I was saying - you don't have to be tall to do well :)

    Helping a quiet kid

She'll get there - DD was always so quiet too. One of her TB teams - the coaches made a point to have all of the girls talk more. I really think it depends on how comfortable she is around all of the other players and coaches. DD loved this team and did feel comfortable with them and it was...

    A Coach's Strengths?

DD had a coach who never seemed to care about the players who weren't the stars of the team. And I really wanted to add this to the locker room for him. "It's not your job to make every player happy 100% of the time. But it is your job to be supportive of every single one." Someone who feels...

    Start of rec

DD is still doing well this season. So far her team is undefeated - even with some of these newer girls - they are doing great learning to hit. Most of our games have been pretty easy - but last night we were actually losing at one point. Got ahead and the other team managed to tie it up...

    Interference call

I'm glad I was at home watching this instead of being there. I was watching w/o sound so didn't hear the parents initially when it was happening. I did go back and listen to see what they were saying however - kind of fun. I'm sure I've said similar things before ;) I always had a hard time...
