Are 34" bats only for really tall and big girls? I have heard that 33 are more common even in college. Can more average height girls (5'5 or so) ever use the big bat successfully? What ate the pros and cons of 34/24 vs 33/24?
My DD's HS team lost their catcher for a few weeks and that was no fun...so I might add catchers to the list that should not run. NFHS rules are pretty generous on courtesy runners so I say let those bench girls run.
Softball pitchers are often some of the bigger players so you should definitely let them hit if they can hit....but a good pitcher should not run if they don't have to....particularly on high school teams.
One thing worth noting is a drop 11 is not necessarily a drop 11. It is my experience the bigger the drop and the shorter the bat the bigger the delta. I think I would get a drop 10 asap for my DD if I had it over to do again.
My DD's high school coach absolutely insists that they stop at contact. This is absolutely contrary to everything I have ever heard about hitting. Is this some new fad that I haven't heard of before?
I was actually able to catch up with the person who took my mitt and got it back so I haven't looked at this thread, but the problem about her throwing hard and my lack of softball skills remains. I actually went to Scheels and the Rawlings Heart of the Hide fit my hand really well, but it will...
My old Under Armour Catchers Mitt walked off from me the other day. I need a new one that will accommodate short but fat fingers and hands. My pitcher pitches around 63. The Under Armour one wasn't protecting my hand too well but that may have been just to my inability to catching in the...
I am going against the grain but I am not sure a lifetime glove is the best glove for a pitcher. The heart of the hide and the A2000 ate stiff and weigh a ton. My DD uses a Akadema AJB74.
I honestly think it is 9th graders that go play varsity softball then go play 14U in the summer that are the biggest issue. I am honestly for one high school division. The minute you walk thru the high school door their should be one division...high school.
Here is USSSA's statement on Age cutoffs...
"At this time USSSA has no intentions of changing its age eligibility timeline, which is currently January 1. The current age eligibility structure for USSSA Fastpitch has been a strength of our organization and we do not plan on making any...
This is 2A softball in the middle of nowhere. They have more tumbleweeds then people. Is it possible this girl is just really bad? We all seen 12U games where the catcher launched the ball in the outfield. I have actually seen in it 14U.
My daughter abandoned the sports glasses a long time ago. With the infield facemask and the batting facemask sports glasses are really not necessary. She actually likes her regular glasses a lot better and it saves me quite a bit of money.
