Sisters who coach in the NCAA.

I've heard of one pair of sisters who coach different teams: Katie Lynch Apostolopoulos is the head coach of NYIT, and Tracey Lynch is the assistant coach at UNCG. Are there any other sisters who both coach in the NCAA?

DDs see no honor in being called up to varsity, and riding the bench-hear me out.

I did not mean to suggest that a faculty member coach is automatically not qualified. From what I hear he has consistently lead his fall team to many winning seasons, and a few conference championships. I take it that he is highly qualified to coach that sport. Besides the issue of keeping...

A lot of them are. The schools are required to hire coaches from within the school faculty first. If no one wants to coach a sport, then, and only then, does the district look elsewhere for coaches. Does not make for the best coaches.

DDs see no honor in being called up to varsity, and riding the bench-hear me out.

Not so in my case. One year DD was put on the "weaker" team in her organization. In the late spring and summer one year she had been getting sloppy, riding on her talent, not working on improving her skills, so she was moved down. She hated it. Though she didn't know it at the time, It was...

DDs see no honor in being called up to varsity, and riding the bench-hear me out.

As I said in my original post, at the parent's meeting before the season started the HC said there are freshmen (DDs) who should be playing varsity and upperclassman who should be playing JV, then said he is playing all of his nine returning players from last year. So he even stated outright...

This player's only baseball experience was school ball?

DDs see no honor in being called up to varsity, and riding the bench-hear me out.

Lets take my DD out of this equation for a moment. Player A is on a respectable local travel team, coached by a travel coach who has a decent win-loss record. Along with the once (sometimes twice) a week practice with her team ten months a year, reinforces the team practices by practicing...

DDs see no honor in being called up to varsity, and riding the bench-hear me out.

From what I am hearing it is politics. Supposedly the powers that be want to avoid parents of juniors and seniors calling and complaining that older girls are sitting when freshmen are playing. This has been a lesson, that the world it often not a meritocracy, and that politics is an...

DDs see no honor in being called up to varsity, and riding the bench-hear me out.

If the situation was one where they could learn watching the upperclassmen play that would be one thing, but they are not learning anything riding the bench. With only three of the starters playing for travel teams, and the rest play softball two months a year, the level of play is what they...

DDs see no honor in being called up to varsity, and riding the bench-hear me out.

She gave me a bit more information last night. She says a clique has formed among many of the upperclassmen, and she feels they all hate her. A senior found out DD will be playing in the same 16/18u showcase this summer that the senior is playing in. Who knows if that is behind the clique...

She would love to, but her TB coach said she should stay in school ball, even if it's just so a college recruiter won't wonder why she isn't balling HS ball.

Once you decided, without all the facts, that my children are selfish, then I don't see the point in continuing the conversation. Again, without all the facts. DDs were very excited to be playing school ball, as they took part in school teams in the fall and winter. They knew full well...

He's been the school's softball coach for over 20 years. I guess district rules allow him to keep on coming back as long as he wants. The AD was at the parents meeting when the HC said there are freshmen who should be playing on varsity, and upperclassmen who should be playing JV, then said...

DDs see no honor in being called up to varsity, and riding the bench-hear me out.

One DD already said she will finish off this season, but has doubts about going back next year. I asked her if she was definitely going to be on varsity next year would she feel the same. She said yes, she is seriously thinking of not returning to school softball. Track has an appeal to her...

It will be interesting to see if he plays them in their sophomore year. That might be the case. I'm not optimistic that he has a master plan. The meeting was not prior to the tryouts, it was the day after the first scrimmage.

They've had their own bench time on their travel teams. They didn't like it, but they used it as motivation to improve their play. I'm encouraging them to play the politics of the situation. Generally it is not a positive experience for many of the players. One senior, a travel player, said...

Seems like a coach makes all the difference in the world whether or not a player feels valued.

What if there is no evidence he is doing what is best for the team? What if he proves during practice that he doesn't really know the game?
