    GHOST ADVANCED

Just got back from the store and bought the Ghost DS in the limited edition Team Canada colors. Daughter loves the look. She had been using the 2018 Ghost bat previously. The store owner said that he has already had a bunch of returns on cracked Advanced bats at an alarming rate. I imagine...

School coach doesn't understand the game

I would give the coach a pass. The game was over. How many times have you come back from 8 on your last out?

Wilson a2000 or rawlings pro preferred for fastpitch

I played SS in baseball until I was 19 and then fastpitch after. In baseball I preferred the smaller glove, but I never really had any issues of 'finding' the ball with a 12" glove in softball. My daughter plays SS and she loves her Softball A2000 12" glove. I don't think I would go smaller.

    Would you expect this

I agree with this. I don't see mush of a push, if any. Watch her lead foot trajectory. It would have landed in the exact same spot whether their was a replant or not. Typically, you see the lead foot gain a bit more distance with a secondary push off. I call this a baby crowhop and I don't...

Starting email with concern for coach's general wellbeing?

My DD has been starting hers with "I hope you are doing well and staying safe".

How often should DD (a sophomore) send an email to a coach?

Thanks Gator. Any chance I can get a look at one of the public ones. You can PM me if you don't want to show it on here. No worries if you don't. Completely understandable.

How often should DD (a sophomore) send an email to a coach?

I totally understand. Well explained. Thanks. I have been telling my daughter to stop watching also, so I can get a rough idea. Good idea to tailor them individually. I have our video as public, but I will start doing what you suggest to the schools that she really has her hopes on.

How often should DD (a sophomore) send an email to a coach?

We just created our first skills video and started sending it out. How can you tell if a coach has watched it or partially watched it?

    Coronavirus

We just had a tournament cancel for next week. Just south of Seatlle.

    Does Size Matter in S.B.?

If you take the pitchers out of the equation, The Huskies might have a team that is below the average American female for height. And a lot of those girls listed as 5'4" are being measured in cleats and standing on the mound ;-). I think the smarter NCAA coaches probably ignore height a bit...

Coaches - Allow Players to pickup?

One team in our league doesn't allow their girls to be picked up. Every other team is fine with it. The coaches call each other first to ask, and then the head coach gives the option to the girl that is being picked up. As long as it doesn't interfere.

Ten most important things for an infielder to do

This is true for most of us. We figured it out. But I would say that if the girls are aware of it in gym practice, the learning curve would be quicker.

Ten most important things for an infielder to do

As mentioned, Long hop - Short hop. So many coaches do not teach this and just yell "charge the ball". One thing to be aware of in gym practices, is what kind of hop they are receiving the ball on. Everything bounces perfectly, so you have to be aware if the player is picking it up on a 3...

    JV or Varsity?

Where will she have the most fun? This isn't a job, it's a sport. And I honestly believe she will develop more playing and leading the JV then she will sitting on the bench playing Varsity. I am assuming the JV has competent coaches that can run good practices.

    2020 Easton Ghost

The Mako is the best batting cage bat on the market. Almost Indestructible.

    JV or Varsity?

My vote is for JV. What experience will she have the most fun from. Leading the JV and playing with her friends or sitting on the bench, with a smile, and playing with girls that she probably doesn't really hang with. I'm a firm believer that nothing rounds you out as an athlete more than...

    DD's Throwdown in ITB

I would say that unlike other infield positions you can get away with both. All things being equal I would take the RH because of the tag play at home, and throwing a runner stealing 3rd >>> any pickoff play. The bunt to the left side of the infield favors the LH'er.

    The "Hissy-Quit"

You play your pickups. Especially on travel tournaments. They are doing you a favor. If this gets out that a coach sat there pickups, they wouldn't be able to get pickups in the future. The only exception is if the coach talked to the parents/player ahead of time and told them that they would...

    Tincher Pitching w/o a backswing

It could be marketing too. If all the Tincher kids use the glove block and pitch like clones of each other, then it becomes recognizable.
