I am just curious if others have had experience with Plica Syndrome in the knee. My DD is currently dealing with it and her team has very good trainers and they are treating it. It is starting to respond but is still nagging so her innings are being controlled to start the season. Curious if...
I received the text I have been hoping to get for the past couple of weeks.
DD: "Dad I have officially retired from rugby."
Me: Trying to contain my excitement..."Why?"
DD: "The coaches said last night: Those of you with good mechanics and form might get hurt, those of you who don't WILL get...
While this TED talk is not softball related it talks about how we can raise girls to value bravery over perfection. I believe softball or any team sport can teach bravery and the fact life is imperfect. Twelve minutes but worth watching imo.

This is not new and has even been on this forum but I think should be mandatory reading by every parent and athlete. My two cents is that softball is just part of the process of preparing our kids for life.

As soon as Spring HS school season ends, all this parent angst will be redirected at travel ball coaches for all manner of atrocities committed. Of course with TB it is easier to bounce from team to team looking for that "perfect" fit.

NCAA rule set - I know the rule changed for 2018 from any part of the foot on the chalk as legal to any part of the foot out now being an out. Just watched my DD play 16 games in Florida and I saw it called multiple times so also seems to be a point of emphasis. Worked in our favor a number of...
Take this post for fwiw. I am about to head to Florida to watch DD#1 play a little softball so I am feeling all philosophical and what not. A couple of lessons I have learned.
1) Your DD will have good coaches and those who could use some improvement. The not so good ones let you appreciate...
i am curious as to others experiences? For those who have DDs either playing or have played what is your experience? For those on the path how well do you think travel ball and your DDs current workout/practice routine is preparing them?
or maybe just required reading in general. This obviously was written in the context of football but just substitute the word football with softball or any sport or even life for that matter. If I want my DD to absorb any life lesson it is this one. Life is largely a meritocracy and the...
I have never watched a single pitcher wearing a mask able to actually make the riseball rise. In fact based on the physics (very complicated equations) I think it is in fact impossible for a pitcher with a mask to make the riseball defy gravity!!
Thoughts?
So the scenario this past week is runner on second. Base hit to left field and as the runner rounds third obstruction signal is given after the runner collides with the 3rd baseman. Runner continues home where she kind of half slides but throws her arms up and creates a collision at the plate...
I just created an arbitrary endpoint with college pitcher but the question remains. How much time have we all read pitching forums? How many times have you said internal rotation to another parent and then went on to describe it even though they seem the least bit interested? Seriously if you...
So my DD worked harder this off-season than she ever had especially when it came to weights and fitness. And she has had a very good travel season so far...no this is NOT a brag post. The other quick fact that is relevant is she has a new catcher this year. And on our way out of town this...
The brag posts here reminds me of a funny story. At one of my DD's high school games we were sitting down the right field line not far from our dugout and a man set up fairly close to us but even closer to the dugout. He was cheering for certain girls really loud when they did something...
The 12u rec team I have been helping with will be finishing up their year in about 3 weeks so some preliminary planning around the end of year party has begun. As part of that we want to do awards. I am pushing very hard to give a limited number of specific trophies versus one for everybody...
So as I have posted I have been helping with a 12u rec team after being out of coaching for a number of years. It has been a great experience but last night for the first time ever I was ejected from a game...ever. And being a diehard DFPer I have to share my shame. :)
My runner is on second...
Two weekends ago my DD decides to slide headfirst into second stretching a single into a double. As I may have mentioned a few times the kid is a decent pitcher and even ok hitter but at no point EVER in her career has anybody said boy she is fast on the bases and her sliding is out of this...
