Does an umpire determine who wins a game, No. Can they influence who wins a game, Yes absolutely. An umpire can flip a game on its head with just one ball vs strike call in a highly leveraged situation.
My DD throws a two finger riseball for the last 2 years. As the season progresses both years she starts experiencing a pain along her forearm. The pain does not reach the point where she cannot pitch and she says she can deal with it. It also reduces with rest. My thought is she is...
Here is one way she can build on her existing change up. Use the horseshoe or pauly change up but instead of pushing the ball, release in a complete handshake position and tumble the ball out over the side of the middel finger. Helps to remove index finger from contact. The faster the arm...
Is the Double Stamp same as the regular Ghost? Looking at the Easton website the terminology is a little different, there is just the Advanced Ghost, and Ghost. in 2020 and 2022.
Also is the Advanced less of an end weighted bat?
16U DD had an older model marked Ghost Double Barrel that...
The second team fits her age group so to me it is a better fit and she will face better batting and hopefully have a better catcher and defense behind her. Setting up a pitcher for success breeds confidence and further improvement. However you need to evaluate the pitchers on this second team...
Stick with it she is on the right track. Its a very effective pitch in games if she get can the spin rate up some and get it over 50. Mix it up with a drop change up and you will see a confused look on batters face. Then go with the inside fastball.
I think part of it is she pitched 3 days in a row so UCLA adjusted and she tired, while UCLA double teamed with Garcia and Faraimo. Still she only gave up 2 runs in each of the first two games, and won the first. VT is is playing a bunch of SEC teams including Alabama in Feb so should be...
I have seen similar stats. I will have to say that I see it less now that DD is playing in 16U. It may be a function of less experienced coaches at the younger ages. Sometimes witnessed those kind of numbers being pitched by the coach's own daughter.
For some teams this pretty much captures it. I don't think the coach wants to do it but its like the other pitcher is out this week or they just have one good pitcher.
What if every Game Changer posted the total daily pitch count for the highest count pitcher for every game. Or the...
How do these showcases determine what teams play at the main locations? Just came back from a showcase and did not see one college coach at our location in two days but there were D1 coaches at the main location.
In the beginning of professional baseball it was the wild west and it was not uncommon to have a pitcher start both games of a double header. Over time because there was money involved, the game figured out that this was not a good idea. It further developed into a the 5 day rotation we have...
My DD is working on many of the items discussed including riseball spin. Thank you Rick and Sarah Pauly for putting out this information to help young pitchers.
Upper level travel teams pull from a larger region and in some cases multiple states so yes there are travel teams that are better. I can see where the TV coverage creates an expectation of the same level but these teams even if semi travel are pulling from one small community which is part of...
My 2 cents, monkey butt is a necessity if a player pitches with a pushing "hello elbow" shoulder domininated form otherwise they will hit their hip and injure themselves. Sometimes their arm circle improves over time and the monkey butt posture is a remnant that is no longer needed, however...
This is why stats for many teams are worthless and you see HS players with 600 and higher batting averages. Strikeouts are a better indicator of performance for the pitcher in these situations. You see developing players all the time that just do not move well to the ball and are not making...
If she is not losing control in practice then your first instinct that its mental fatigue is most likely whats happening. First year 12U is difficult. Put her in situations where you are up early and let her pitch out the game to build confidence. They also have to learn not to spiral after...
In her first HS game, DD pitched as a freshman and with HR from older travel player the team won their first district game in 6 years. HR left a dent in a pickup truck in parking lot. Wasn't the best softball but the girls had fun. I guess this is HS softball.
