    Helmets during practice

IMO, another reason that they should wear them as much as possible during practice. The more they can get used to them, and comfortable with them, the better they can perform come game time with them on.

    Helmets during practice

YES!!!!!! If girls are swinging bats, any of them in the area should have a helmet on. I have unfortunately heard the sound that a bat makes when it hits a girl in the face. That was around 6 years ago, and I can still hear it.

Some well wishes for a board member

Prayers sent up from Illinois. Get well soon.

    Strength Training Program

I have recommended this before on here, and I still find it useful for anyone wanting strength, flexability, and overall fitness training. The original P90X program. You can find them on the Beach Body website, or you can find some used sets for sale on Ebay, etc. You didn't say age of your DD...

    Indoor Tournament

Look up the venue that she is playing in. Some times they have their dead ball and other rules posted on line. I have seen some indoor places that have a "line" of flags, that if the ball hits the roof in front of the line it is dead ball. If the ball hits behind the line, it is in play. Other...

    white pants

Another vote for the naptha bar soap. Thankfully DD never played on a team that didn't have black pants.

    I freaking hate pitching

This thread is a reminder of how awesome this place and the people who post here really are.

Another Sobering Article about Youth Sports

Could not agree more. My dd decided that she did not want to play in college. She did play her last two years of high school ball, but did not play travel the last two years. She started around the age of 9-10 playing softball. Between all the travel, team fees, equipement, shoes, etc, etc, etc...

Just dropped her off at college

My dd has been gone for a couple of weeks now. Three hours away, so no too bad. And I agree, it is a big adjustment at the house. Different kind of feeling and hard to explain. One positive, there is a lot less laundry for me to do, and the house stays clean a lot longer. ;)

18U PGF Championship - Which illegal move irks you more?

Well, P leaped to the front of the circle before releasing the ball, AND batter is clearly out of the box, so don't those offenses cancel each other out??;)

Anyone else feel old this time of year?

Dropped my 00 baby off at Murray State on Saturday. :(

    Managing expectations

I had a long post all typed up and the page crashed and it was gone. Then Eric's post popped up. Marriard and Eric nailed it. At least you acknowledge you have issues, because IMO you do. Try focusing on these two things at games: #1 did she do the best she can do? I am sure she didn't "not look...

Is this any of the coach's business?

I actually like the approach of the coach. He needs to know who is coming back and what holes he needs to fill for the next season. I personally would rather coach asks in person of each player what they are thinking for next season. That way he can get a list together of girls that are for sure...

    My Daughter Casey

Wow. Damn allergies acting up again.

    In need of some advice

Gabby, my daughter was senior and just graduated this spring. I am not sure if softball is a fall or spring sport where you live. It is spring here. We made our daughter have a job her senior year, until softball started. We let her quit once all the games started. They had games scheduled 3-5...

    Watching too many...

You need to remind him to snap that wrist, finish high and point that elbow at the target. And most important......yell at him to "just throw strikes."

    Clip from Fighting Softball Parents

Disgusting. What a bunch of idiots. It all comes back on the coaches of the teams, and ultimately the head of the organization. I hate the parents that sit in the stands and constantly complain about calls, and whine about everything. And there is no excuse, none, period for any parent to say...

TB - Not sure it is for us

It is def not for everyone. DW did not love softball near as much as me, so there was some strain there. DD just graduated high school and for her softball is over. I am glad to have the summer free, but will miss watching her play.

    Time to say good bye

As someone who has sat in the waiting room during a major surgery for DD, I can not imagine. Sitting here at work with tears falling from my eyes. Thoughts, prayers and condolences from Illinois. Honestly at a loss for more to say than that.

    Too old to umpire?

We had a local umpire that was like the one in the OP. Had a parkinson's like thing he did with his jaw that always looked like he was chewing on something. Hard to explain lol. He was painfully slow to do anything. If he had to pick up a ball that was on the ground, a girl would have to do it...
