    Hitting Development Road Map

Thank you to the over 19,000 people who tuned in LIVE for my presentation on The Hitting Development Road Map last night! Designed for travel ball, high school, college and pro coaches. I decided to leave it up for 12 more hours before taking it down in case you missed it! You can catch it here:

What actually do you call the style that Coach Lisle teaches and why do a lot of softball coaches hate it?

Part of it has to do with her load. Because she gets over her backside she needs/wants to push forward. Try to calm down her load with her back leg/knee keeping her back knee inside of her back foot. I would also use a slant board or similar to help feel it and I would not practice it off the...

What actually do you call the style that Coach Lisle teaches and why do a lot of softball coaches hate it?

She's tall. Here's what I see and what I would do: - I love her stance. - As she loads back she does get over her backside a little too much. But it's not terrible. - Where things break down is her stride/forward move. She's way too violent with it and gets WAY too wide. I would put some...

What actually do you call the style that Coach Lisle teaches and why do a lot of softball coaches hate it?

Sorry. If you’re kid is under 12 or already in college, I’m comfortable with talking about their swing video. But with NCAA’s crazy rules, I’m not gonna open Pandora’s box of breaking down prospective athletes swings.

What actually do you call the style that Coach Lisle teaches and why do a lot of softball coaches hate it?

My guess is that she has too much weight on her backside either in her stance or her load. I would make sure she maintains a 50/50 balance in her stance and load. A few tricks I used to do with younger kids: Have her walk sideways for 25 feet and sideways back. She won't reach with her front...

What actually do you call the style that Coach Lisle teaches and why do a lot of softball coaches hate it?

As I'm sitting around waiting for the D1 Council's decision on 2020 Spring Athletes eligibility, if you have any other questions (that you guys haven't already figured out) that I can help with, I'll try my best to answer them.

What actually do you call the style that Coach Lisle teaches and why do a lot of softball coaches hate it?

LOL. I kept saying "don't go on the message boards". I'll leave by saying this: The hands are ACTIVE to a degree for all hitters. Some a lot and some very little. However, I would say that showing a video of Yelich on a take where his hands come forward a little as he's hitting the brakes is a...

What actually do you call the style that Coach Lisle teaches and why do a lot of softball coaches hate it?

LOL. Here’s what I will say: The barrel doesn’t need to be turned to get the bat on plane. Some hitters more so because their bat is very vertical at launch position. Others not as much because their barrel is less vertical. The Astros org in 2019 had hitters pre-set that position in their...

What actually do you call the style that Coach Lisle teaches and why do a lot of softball coaches hate it?

I've had a rule in my coaching career to never ever go on the message boards. I can see now why that was such a good rule as Coronavirus Cabin Fever got me to stumble into here. I know for many, the label of job-hopping selfish egomaniac will be one I'll wear for a while. A big part of me is...

    Pro glider bat

Thanks for the incredibly insightful commentary on what I said. My point was that ALL drills and tools can be used the wrong way. ALL. Is the ProGlider a great tool when used right? Absolutely. Can it be used the wrong way? Absolutely. I don't know of too many hitting tools that are 100% idiot...

    Pro glider bat

Yes. We have many rules about "cheating" and we had to develop a system in a sense.

    Pro glider bat

The ProGlider is a great tool. The videos shown in this thread are HORRIBLE demonstrations of its use/benefits.

coachlisle: stop telling hitters to hit the outside pitch deep

I appreciate all of that. I really didn't want to come on here to "defend" myself, I just thought that I could have done a better job with my original Facebook post and didn't feel comfortable leaving it at that.

coachlisle: stop telling hitters to hit the outside pitch deep

This video explanation is great/easy. BUT so many hitting coaches are really wanting to explain it in a way that it gets way too deep

coachlisle: stop telling hitters to hit the outside pitch deep

I should have done a better job of communicating my point about hitting the outside pitch. I was frustrated with one of my hitters getting that cue today that didn't need it and I'm seeing that ALOT. My original post was meant to say that you can also drive balls "out front" and I teach my...

Batters Box Battle: Increasing Batting Average without changing swing

Really just a relaxing technique. Slows heart rate but mostly important relaxes muscles to be able to fire more quickly.

Batters Box Battle: Increasing Batting Average without changing swing

At practice we as coaches tend to spend most, if not all of our hitting time on the mechanics of the swing and getting reps in BP. A few years ago after realizing that we had some players who had perfect mechanics and weren’t hitting above .200, I chose to reevaluate what were we doing at the...

Some truths from a Coach about recruiting...

My point was that just like our society with debt/credit cards..we over-extend ourselves. Don't break the bank to get exposure. Having said that, if you asked me if it was better for someone to be seen by 300 coaches versus 3? The answer would be yes.

    Bryce Harper Drill

No. That video was taken down because it was a former player and former school and she's currently a collegiate player.
