I'll take the 49/50 control pitcher....with a coach that knows how to call pitches. A coach that knows a pitchers strengths/weakness and uses it accordingly makes a good pitcher great. A coach that calls everything his way and doesn't adjust to each pitcher can be a disaster.
My daughters 12u team got a bid to the USA Elite Select World Series in Kansas. How does this tournament rank on the national level and does anyone have previous experience with it? Any info is appreciated.
Drill and Practice
All the drills and or coaches listed are great. The main thing that separates a good practice from a bad practice is time management. Run through individual drills that allow for the most touches with some feedback... then group work...team work....hitting or whatever you...
Trying to help my second year 12u DD get a handle on a couple of pitches but she and I are a little confused. I introduced her to the two seam fastball to get some movement....it was awesome but she can't command the direction. It just goes down and in or away. Still awesome pitch. I owe DFP...
Finish the season and cut her next year. If your in the school system you can only do as much as your admin. will allow for discipline this year. I know that being a feeder for high school is about #'s and potential but 16 is too many. They have other opportunities to play ball and it will...
Home schooled kids in GA cannot play. I know that a lot of people think it isn't right but it would open up a can of worms for eligibility....especially football. I don't see how some states do it without being taken advantage of.
High school coaches going crazy with year around practices could...
Thanks KnightSB for the video/GIF conversion.
Yes, I have read those forum threads but I wasn't quite sure where to start. We have been doing drills and pitching into a tarp a lot. It's been getting better when she sees the new IR PC but it's only once every 3-4 weeks due to distance.
The...
Just wanted to say thanks to Boombah for their customer service. DD got a new bag for Christmas which was messed up. A zipper was sewn too close to a seam and wouldn't close properly. Contacted them and sent a picture of the problem. They told me to keep that bag and would send out another...

Pitching so far has been a roller coaster for my DD. Started out with HE for a few months then found this site with IR. We worked on IR and got decent at the 10u level...
Last year DD was asked to go to another team that was VERY good. I didn't move her because it would have devastated the team we had already committed to (one of two pitchers). If I had to do it all over again I would have moved her. This year we moved her to another team with higher...
I'm a Wilson A2000 guy for baseball. However DD chose a Nokona Buckaroo 12.5 this past summer. It broke in quickly with nothing put on it. We are both very satisfied.
My advise is to take her to a specialty baseball/softball store and let her choose for herself. DD seems to take better care...
The rule book says it has to have compression and cor listed. I and apparently all the ump's thought the same thing. If you see one of these NFHS Rhino balls just beware. It's literally a soft ball.
Thanks....I thought it had to be labeled even if it said NFHS. Now I just have to get the ump's to know and apply the rule. Hopefully I won't see this ball in a game again. You can actually feel the "squishiness" of the ball.
Does a game ball have to state 47 Cor and 375 compression?..... should the umpire check it if asked? Having a problem with teams playing with a Rhino ball by champion and they are terrible. Ball is extremely dead off the bat. Compression isn't listed but it does have NFHS on it. Is it legal...
