2 Free Durham Regional All Session Standing Room/Field Seating Tickets

I bought 2 tickets to the Durham Regional thinking my daughter and I would go tomorrow to watch games. Turns out I didn't think that through very well and we have a couple conflicts. My loss is your gain. The tickets weren't expensive and they are the standing room/field seating tickets but it...

How Pitching Illegally Comes Back to Haunt You

Sure there are but when a game starts in this matter it sets the tone for the entire game. Let's also be honest - pitching plays a giant role in the outcomes of games. It's no surprise the teams with the best pitching top the polls / win the most games.

How Pitching Illegally Comes Back to Haunt You

You might want to get on ESPN+ and watch the elimination game then. Over half her pitches were called illegal and right before she was pulled - in the first inning - she ended up walking in a batter due to those pitches. The W's are all well and good except when you get eliminated in your...

How Pitching Illegally Comes Back to Haunt You

I watch the same game Vertigo - it was beyond frustrating to watch and the Troy pitcher could not adjust. FYI the comment was made that she wasn't just getting called for illegal pitches that game - she had been called all tournament long so this wasn't a case of a coach putting her out there to...

Team Rules~No player/parent interaction at the ballpark

I keep seeing "team unity" in the theme of your posts RAD. I think a great conversation would be - are teams that have "team unity" more successful than teams that just play their games and then get free time until their next warm up meet time? DD played for a 16U team that did the "college...

    Safety Base/Running Lane in NCAA

Sure there are collisions at home plate, however, 1) there are also much more stringent rules that have been put in place regarding obstruction which the NCAA rules committee intended to limit such collisions - especially at home plate and 2) the stationary player/catcher is wearing much more...

    Safety Base/Running Lane in NCAA

And what is the problem with applying an "easy and inexpensive" fix to limit SOME collisions? I don't see the downside. Why argue against a safety bag if it will limit some issues? My daughter plays 1B - yes she has been in some collisions even with a safety bag - and yes I do think some were...

Is hitting off a pitching machine necessary?

Ryan McCall. He has a brother who plays as well. Not sure of what team though. I know Ryan knows Coach Mike White pretty well also and I remember you talking about Coach White also.

Is hitting off a pitching machine necessary?

DD had a coach in KC (Pepper’s Coach in case you know him) that played men’s fastpitch and was a pitcher. He was the absolute best thing that ever happened to help DD’s hitting. He would throw BP and definitely didn’t hold back with her (14u). I give him so much credit for why she can mash the...

Question for the high school parents

So now have we morphed from discussing a HS coach into travel ball coaches? I mean - is the HS coach a parent? In my experience HS coaches are 'usually' teachers looking to pick up some extra dough. DD's HS coach is a woman who is also a teacher at the HS. The assistant coach is a former D1...

    Perception

I sure as heck would have kept them, lol. Ok - maybe I would have thrown them over onto the field. Maybe. My question is - does the high school lock their field where nobody else can go practice? Reason I ask is because my DD and I go practice at the local high school fields all the time. Her...

Is hitting off a pitching machine necessary?

Likewise. My DD is absolutely awful off the pitching machine. She can't get her timing often times because of the person running it. She really hates the machine when other teammates work the machine, lol. She can mash the ball in games so we don't put too much stock in her performance off the...

    Advice RE Recruiting, etc

I guess we can check in in November. So far in our experience we haven't seen any surprises the last few years for any teammates of DD. Not saying it doesn't happen (as obviously you have given an example where it does) but with the thousands of players that commit I'm guessing the number that...

    Advice RE Recruiting, etc

I don't agree and that's ok. Again - when scholarship money is gone - it's gone. The money we dropped on camps was mind boggling not including the travel to go to said camps because DD doesn't want to go to college "in state". DD is still working her butt off and staying on top of her game but...

Question for the high school parents

Your kid has to lead this process and you need to take a step back. It's hard but like stated above this won't be the first challenge she will face. As far as the school shirt - heck the Walmart or grocery stores around us sell the local school spirit wear, take her there and get a shirt.

    Advice RE Recruiting, etc

Sure it happens but not enough to not verbally commit if you find the school you love which DD did. She committed to the school. She keeps her social media clean and fully understands her obligations. I also think players who are interested in D1 or D2 also be very aware of the scholarship...

    Advice RE Recruiting, etc

I'm fully aware of that and I rarely see players who have committed not sign - it has not been an issue for DD's teammates. Yes coaching changes happen and yes new coaches "may" not want players but even then what we saw of that was rare. We needed scholarship money and the longer you wait the...

Fielding % (like batting average except for the defense)

No - extraordinary is my opinion as a scorekeeper. If you read the other comment I posted above I absolutely said diving is expected on the field by coaches and is my opinion as a parent. (scroll up a few posts). However my literal interpretation of this thread was talking about fielding stats...

    Advice RE Recruiting, etc

I don't think this is entirely accurate. It may have been during Covid but now many - MANY 2023's are verbally committed and more announce every day via Twitter. Heck my daughter committed to UMBC in November and the coach now has 8 2023 athlete's committed and has pretty much finished up his...
