    Hitting Really Fast Pitchers

Big leaguers talk all the time about getting the head out against faster pitching. if approach Is oppo to let it get deep, then we must pull to get head out to catch out front or a bit earlier to make up for the extra velocity. the problem is everyone falls in love with the in to out swing...

Fun hitting drill for the kids

if a kid isn’t having fun when hitting, probably pitching or something else is more up their alley. Hitting things is the best! Not a fan. No one hits standing on a tire during a game. His path drills are one dimensional. Just not much adjustability in his drills. The constraints/goals seem...

    Bat Barrel Position

I think if you use an early bar, adjustments are deeper in the zone. If you keep flexion adjustments are more out front. Both later in the sequence. Maybe something to do with how you move out? Approach? A balanceR? I like the ‘box’ by C. Wallenbrock.

    Bat Barrel Position

yeah, just agreeing that hardly ANYTHING is an absolute in hitting. TDS always points out there are different movement patterns. Trying to find the ‘engine‘ to a swing helps things along I think.

his bar is more after he sees pitch and commits. Griff jr was a bit earlier. Knob to catcher. 🙂

For me her sequence is good. Her hands stay tight to her body. Her front arm stays bent roughly at the same angle as set up. So she stays adjustable. During the gif above she seems to stay connected bc of her sequence. These are things that are missing in your dds sequence. Imo bc of the early...

Once the load of the sequence is correct, I would do a hands drill. Basically the Braun drill learning to keep the barrel up and behind the hands for a proper barrel release. Then I would work front toss from a constraint of stance to learn to control the barrel path and release for different...

for sure. If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. If you do make the changes she will become a bit more effortless and she will be able to adjust her release out front as well as deep a bit more, Coil of the shoulders happens during the forward move.. notice how the front arm doesn’t straighten til...

    Bat Barrel Position

In theory, the bat angle whether vertical or horizontal or neutral at set up, will have pitches that are tough to get too. Horizontal has issues with down and away and down and in. Vertical has a tougher time with high pitches. Not saying you can’t hit them, it’s just a bit tougher to get to and...

What sticks out to me is the early upper body counter rotation accompanied by the elongating front arm. This traps the hands and forces a cast. Forcing the arms to do more than they should earlier than they should. The upper should load during the positive move pulling the lead shoulder down...

Just from these two swings, it appears she rushes or is unbalanced so the load of the hands is early and is forced into disconnection. The HR swing she is connected. I think it’s from her load phase and the feeling of being loaded but truly not loading the hips initially. Her weight gets back...

Pretty nice swings. Correct me if I’m wrong, but she was taught TTB right? A few observations.. contact point is a bit to deep on some pitches and the barrel works away from the head on the initial move to the ball. A bit longer path than need be. Still a nice swing by an athletic kid. Good job.

I’m very partial . Love the sequence of movements. She looks to be whipping the barrel. Balanced. Low effort as well. Nice heel to heel transfer. Stays in the posterior for a long time. 👏👏👏

    Bat drag

I think walking away from the hands or pullback or whatever you want to call it creates the compression/contractions. Not saying you can’t start that way. I meant lose the hips initially at stride. As long as you have your hips, arm bar can be overcome or used imo. Not my style though. I want...

    Bat drag

Yes. I was speaking generally. But other things as well can contribute. Loading the hands early. Outta sequence, Trapping etc etc.

    Bat drag

It’s an isometric contraction of the shoulders and lats, scaps and other adjoining muscles that creates the arm against the chest while rotating to release the barrel. Less on the out more on the in. Imo anyway.
