    Seasons and Tourneys Cancelled?

Maine Principals Association just delayed the start of spring sports to April 27 - for us that takes away a week of conditioning and 4 weeks of practice...wipes out the preseason slate and 5 countable games What I don't get is not letting us practice if they keep school in session......

    Seasons and Tourneys Cancelled?

i don't think college healthcare systems were designed to handle what they'd have to handle with an outbreak and college campuses are so densely populated, the risk for outbreak is greater

    Seasons and Tourneys Cancelled?

prudent, level headed decision.....by march 30 we should be past peak (assuming the social distancing measures are followed, people actually wash their hands and stay home when sick), and things should start to return to normal

    Seasons and Tourneys Cancelled?

if we take care of things now, we should be past peak in a few weeks or so.......

    Seasons and Tourneys Cancelled?

understood.....her academics will get her in......her financial need will pave the way for a pretty good package.......divorced parents that are both teachers in the great state of Maine haha

    Seasons and Tourneys Cancelled?

haha - yup although my daughter is looking at one.....speculation is with their endowments and her athletic/academic performance, it would end up significantly cheaper than state school

    Seasons and Tourneys Cancelled?

wonder if they will restore a year of eligibility for all spring athletes?

    Seasons and Tourneys Cancelled?

this.....the doubling rate for this thing is like 2 days; that means the amount infected can double within two days.....that's fast.......new dutch study suggests mortality as high as 3.6%, so it IS dangerous......if we don't work to contain the spread (see South Korea, for example, they seem to...

    Seasons and Tourneys Cancelled?

if i were a betting man, i'd say member schools with no chance to win didn't want to bother lol harvard has cancelled classes, no? i think it is spreading fast in MA right now (confirmed cases doubled in a day or two i think), so that may have something to do with it.....

#2 is just as important as #1 - High School Pitchers

HS around here tends to have drop off; my travel team has a 1A and 1B, and that's where the double barrel approach comes in.....we plan on switching 3rd time through the order ahead of time, and use the #3 to get rest when we can in HS, though, the teams around here usually aren't as deep...

#2 is just as important as #1 - High School Pitchers

haha good point.....our varsity team had a converted SS going as the #1, and mostly only, pitcher......headed into this year with a freshman that hits low 50's with solid control, a 2 seamer that moves in on RHB and a solid changeup, and we're ecstatic......and there's an 8th grader hitting mid...

#2 is just as important as #1 - High School Pitchers

i've become a big fan of the double barreled approach as well.....unless the starter is 100% cruising, i very much like using 2 in one game as a planned occurrence.....you're seeing less and less of the 'ride one until the wheels fall off' approach, and i like it

This One Is New To Me - No Bus !

very much so i am amazed schools get away with private transport to a school event, huge liability concern.......our kids can provide own transport only with more than 24 hours approval from AD, signed and official.....same with taking them home .....middle school busses to all away events...

    14u/16u weekday tourney season practice?

we do zero travel ball once high school season starts until it's done......for us, because of high school sport stuff that takes place over the summer, we're lucky to get one session on the field.....2-2.5 hours, usually in the AM (HS basketball runs tu/th nights in june/july, soccer/field...

    Good cold weather bat?

both my girls use Rockettechs for practice/cage/tee work.......we will use last year's game bat for cold game conditions

HS season starting for most areas..how long till???

haha......conditioning (used to be pitchers & catchers, now it is everyone) starts 3/23.....full practice 3/30, first scrimmages 4/11 there's still several inches of snow and ice on the field, but this week's weather should help that......but last year we had 8-10" of snow come down late in the...

    Softball war stories

we were warming up for a pool game at a tournament way back in 10u girls were throwing in lines, warming up.....assistant coach had just spoken to them and told them to spread out and pay attention, as girls had a few close calls as a partner wasn't paying attention, etc, as is want to happen...

    Practice Balls For Association Teams

our rec league also buys a dozen 'game balls' for each team each season......home team provides 2 each game to the umpire.....in the past, coaches kept the used game balls......last year i put 5 gallon buckets in each 'shed' (there's a locked shed at the end of each dugout on our fields).....i...

    Practice Balls For Association Teams

depends on the level.......my varsity AD always bought us a bucket each for MS & HS each year......my middle school team had half of them egg shaped in a week or two of BP lol diamnond flyer used to be a decent price for a decent ball......they were bought out by someone though? someone will...
