    Natural right-hander who throws lefty?

Billy Wagner one of the best LH relief pitchers ever in MLB was a natural right hander. He broke his right hand as a kid and started throwing left handed. The rest as they say is history.

    Two calls from last night:

On the first one it's hard to tell without being there to see what happened. I could absolutely see a case for the umpire being correct on the first one. If the 1B missed the ball and catcher got it backing up, an argument could be made the runner was trying to take second on the over throw but...

    Two calls from last night:

Well is is called the foul line not the fair line. But sheesh you need to in your best John MacEnroe voice yell "chalk flew up" in that situation.

    Cost of college and scholarships

My understanding is if you are getting any money at all, whether it is need based, academic based, athletic based, or other, the school is probably going to want you fill out a FAFSA. Though I could be wrong on that. Good to know. My DDs school requests one (she gets academic money) so maybe it...

    Rec Leagues Practices&Games/Week?

Back when I coached our rec league our season looked like the following - We had 4 weeks of practice where the league gave us 1 hour of dirt time during the week and one on the weekend. During the season there were no league scheduled practices as fields were dedicated to games. Games were...

    Cost of college and scholarships

Hey I'm all for free college education too even though I'm "almost" done paying for my 3 kids. I don't think kids who chose the wrong parents should have their opportunities limited because of it but that's just me.

    Cost of college and scholarships

None of my three kids played collegiate sports so no sports scholarships. We always made/make too much money for need based aid. We need to fill out this year's FAFSA but DDs school told us to wait until February 1 until the new system gets the bugs out. We will again get no need based money...

    POLL~ about QUITING during the...

As others have said. If there as safety issue of any kind where the child might be in jeopardy either physically, mentally or emotionally, it's OK to quit right then and leave. If you're upset about playing time, no it's not OK to quit mid game/tournament.

College and majors to stay away from??

She needs to decide what level she wants to play at and whether academics and major or softball are primary. If she's going to a big D1 program, some programs won't be very supportive of some of he major choices. If she goes to some D3 schools academics are likely to come first and sports will...

    Pitching machine leather balls

I'm not an expert but my understanding is using regular softballs in the wheeled pitching machine is bad for both the wheel's expected life span and the softball's expected life span.

    How to pitch a...

Yeah but millions of folks still play slow pitch softball. I mean every town in my area has multiple leagues on multiple nights. I'm not sure I'd even know how or where to find men's fast pitch softball game. Some slow pitch leagues are the level of "can you drink as many beers as innings...

The ride looks like it is over

I did the same with our local rec league. Did about 35 games or so last season. My strike zone was lower than batters like, but pitchers didn't seem to complain. I'm going to try to bring it up 1 ball next season any hopefully I'll make more people happy.

    Have you considered umpiring?

    To throw left-handed?

Here is a good article about lefties who have played the 3 IF positions in MLB. It's from 10 years ago but I don't think much has changed in the past 10 years. Though I believe Antony Rizzo was often credited as the 2nd baseman when the Cubs went into their exaggerated bunt defense with Jon...

    To throw left-handed?

Depends on the level. There is a reason you almost never see left a handed player in MLB play 2B, 3B or SS except in emergency. And it's quite simply the throw is a much more natural across the body throw for a right handed thrower than left handed thrower for the vast majority of throws an...

Is it necessary to post this score?

clearly their pitches need to stop walking in runs?

    Purposely double hit?

    Are you volunteering to umpire?

Winning coin flip. Home or Visitor

I would always choose visitor for this very reason, especially if I had a team that didn't have multiple stud pitchers.

    Hit By Pitch Ruling

Well unless she was sticking her head in the strike zone, the correct call was not made.
