Are you really prepared to play college softball?

Glad to hear she is doing well. Tell me when her games are and maybe nic and I will come watch

    Ghost Exit Speeds

Thank you for sharing. This is important for parents to read so that they can be aware and look for these things. I know what you mean about wanting to play - my daughter sees it all the time in HS - they are all nursing something or another and many shouldn’t play but do at times. It is a...

I am so sorry to hear this.

    Miken Freak Black comparison

I still have my 32/22 sitting in garage - only has about one tournament of swings and a little scratch on it. Basically brand new. My daughter didn’t like it - wanted the sound of the LXT. I will sell it if someone wants it.

If you don’t mind me asking what was the back injury?

    Thoughts on Slashing

Two different things here. If 3rd is playing too close then they need to be ready for a hit ball. I agree with this. You said show bunt and if their fielder crashes, then smoke them. I disagree with this. What if it doesn’t get past her cleanly? What if it lines into the 3rd baseman’s...

    Thoughts on Slashing

Not a fan of this reason - I would hate for a 3rd baseman to crash and the batter pull back and kill her. I am ok with the obvious timing slash but to try to fool them and smoke them...no place for that in Softball (my DD plays some third). Irresponsible coaching to do that in my opinion.

Recommendations for a hitting instructor in Houston?

Yes - he is excellent - both my DDs go to him. Great teacher and very encouraging good with young and old

Recommendations for a hitting instructor in Houston?

Englishbey is excellent - really fixed all that knob to ball and sway in my daughters swing. Highly recommend. He does talk a lot but you can tell he is passionate about hitting and knows what he is talking about he is in sugar land area

Helping Fastpitch Pitchers Feel Their Legs Working Together

I like this and am going to try it - thanks

Thoughts on front toss - an open posting to all of the HS coaches out there

Problem is that not many coaches can do the windmill effectively - many can’t even get a back then forward pitch over the plate. And that wastes a lot of practice time - very frustrating and then girls sometimes start swinging at stuff they shouldn’t out of frustration. I have seen coaches get...

No separation. The load may also be referred to by the movements involved, or “stride and separation”. That simply means that as we prepare to hit, we stride toward the pitcher with our front foot, and separate our hands from our body. Putting us in a loaded position and ready for our approach...

Swinging with intent - increasing game bat speed

I like the slow load too. I agree “dance with the pitcher”. Both my daughters do it. My older daughter explodes into the ball when it is go time. My younger seems like she loads slow and then follows through slow - that is what I am trying to fix. Jeff Edwards has a great swing drill with...

Swinging with intent - increasing game bat speed

Yes but she would start sooner on a faster pitcher

Yes, I Know what you mean. It took me about two weeks figure out what was going on. She worked 5 days at HS practice and completely changed her swing to all back all forward. I saw it on the weekend and worked with her to put separation and scap load and coil back into her swing. Then the...

Yes that wAlk up front toss is very good for a hitter who is trying to time a pitcher. Agree on the markers

That three plate drill is a great one. I did that with K’s little league team ahead of playing against a very good (fast) pitcher and it really helped the team - especially when they threw a slower pitcher to try to mess up the timing. Thanks for reminding me about that - greAt drill.

Had to to overcome all of the wrong stuff I taught her over the years as I learned. Englishbey was great cut a lot of unnecessary slop out of her swing and taught her how to load. The Glasco’s taught her the leg kick. Jeff Edwards has taught her to be more sudden and to turn the barrel...
