    Posture

So if we are to separate the two on a technical level, It would be posture being keeping the spine straight while lowering your height by moving the chest over and the butt out. Tilt would be a middle to top curving of the spine. If that is the case and the definitions I definitely teach use...

    Posture

Fine line between posture and tilt. Are you seeing posture as a macro adjustment and tilt as a micro adjustment. I have always combined them as a spinal adjustment to keep it simple.

    Posture

Tilt happens the same time the barrel turns. You want to be at your tilt (shoulder plane) with barrel turned at heel strike.

    Posture

That is where we disagree. I I don't think tilt is much different between outside and inside. I thought the premise of the first video posted was that the instructor said tilt was how you "cover" the outside of the plate. If you use basically the same tilt but you hit an inside pitch out...

    Posture

It may vary slightly, with a greater tilt toward the inside pitch, which if anything backs up tilt shouldn't be taught as the method to "get to" outside pitches. Tilt should be about bat path or plane/shoulder plane. We also should not mix up small amounts of adjustability with more...

    Posture

Tilt doesn't get the bat to the ball on an outside pitch. Contact location does (deeper contact point for outside). Tilt is used to get your bat on plane while keeping your arms and elbows in proper connection. Tilt should match the pitch height. Contact point matches pitch location. You...

    Swing Evaluation

She is strong so fix some mechanics and she could be a killer. Fix back foot. Leaking power. Toes should point straight back at plate. Gets into back knee heavy, would like to see her get into back hip, try straightening the back knee more on the gather. Hips don't load. Losing power...

    Calming down a swing

My first comment was not directed at you, just the conversation in general. It still shows a whether it be subconscious or overt, there is a general over appreciation of speed vs control and movement. There are 100 conversations like these compared to one where someone talks about how good a...

    Calming down a swing

I guess that comment could be replied to any post on this board haha.

    Calming down a swing

Cat Osterman may be the best pitcher of all time and she throws in the low 60's. 10mph under the flame throwers out there. But she can pitch, not just throw. Back to the batter. She doesn't understand rhythm and timing. I hate to keep going back to the same old Josh Donaldson videos...

    Thoughts on Slashing

So you never show bunt early then? You don't want to see how the defense reacts? Besides the slash hit is not a full on swing, it is an attempt to get the ball up the middle where 2nd and SS have vacated too early. I guarantee you that if the corners are over crashing then 2nd and short are...

    Feedback on 11yo DD

What I am seeing that is causing more of her problems is she doesn't make her forward move with a downward shoulder angle. In the swing her front shoulder is getting way too far up. Have her work on a shoulder that is pointing down towards second base when she lands at toe touch/ heel strike.

    Thoughts on Slashing

Smoke them doesn't mean hit them, it means hit it past them. Preferable on the ground. I have seen girls (if they think a bunt is coming) play within 15 feet of the plate. The only recourse to this is to turn and hit it. If a defender is going to play that far up to take away a bunt what...

    Thoughts on Slashing

Slashing is a great move to setup a bunt. Keeps 3rd and 1st from crashing down so far that a bunt is useless. Got to keep them guessing. Key to doing is well is show real early then read the defense. If the defense crashed hard pull back early and smoke um, (3rd base doesn't want to eat...

Turning the barrel and launch position

The lead arm doesn't pull until the back elbow is completely slotted and the lead arm elbow is up above the plane of the pitch. If the lead elbow starts to pull too soon you will get a lead elbow going down which is not good. TTB is a result of keeping the right forearm angle of the top hand...

    Connection

Hands stay ultra close. Excellent. Very short distance between commit and contact.

    Same Ole Story..

Looking again at that last 2 pics your posted, her bottom hand grip is contributing to her elbow position being off. See how her bottom wrist is bent back. She should have a straight wrist at this point. Her bottom hand grip needs to be turned forward so that the hand and forearm are in...

    Same Ole Story..

    1. That pitch Betts hit was very low. The lead arm has to get up above the plane of the pitch. So if you freeze frame a really low MLB pitch you can be fulled into thinking a weak lead arm is the same. It is not. The lead elbow needs to get up before contact. If it gets up after contact...

    Same Ole Story..

MOST IMPORTANTLY is this. Her lead arm is not getting up in a strong position. Her lead elbow is down during the swing. This cannot happen and must be addressed first. Note: I use clips of Donaldson because I believe he does just about everything right. Next, I see is she is in the...

    Rear Leg

I almost totally disagree with this. I actually believe straightening (almost, slight bend) and feeling your weight in your back hip and not your knee is what you should be going for. Getting too into the knee (bending back leg) leads to lunging at the ball and is a less stable launching point...
