Believe me, I’ve got plans. I have my own hobbies that will be revived…after I take care of the household issues that have been neglected for many years - LOL. My DD and I have been talking about some of our favorite experiences during her softball journey. 1 more tournament to go…
Sometimes even when it's over it isn't completely over. DD was home this weekend from grad school. When she woke up this morning she walked in my office and said "Dad, do you want to go to the field to hit". My sneakers were on in seconds. Cherish the moments.

About 5 or 6 years ago my parents came to visit and my father came with us when I took Marcela to the field. At the end he asked if I wanted him to hit me ground balls..After about 15 balls both of us had had enough nostalgia but Marcela got kick out of it (my butt was sore for 2 days after that..)

Maddie gets great pleasure launching softball farther than the last one she hit. I am sure that feeling is going to take some time to fade away. It was a fun ride.

Hard to believe this day has arrived. We have all grown and improved by the experience of each other’s work and commitment to Maddie’s journey. Maddie came with amazing power and knew what she wanted from our very 1st meeting. The timing was right for both of us, she knew she could hit at a higher level and I knew it was mostly a balance and sequence issue. Maddie and Eric we’re so much fun to be.around. It was fun to see their father daughter bond grow . Our 1st time working together. Time to break out my savadeck phantom 2.0;and hit the dirt

So Cal
This week, Maddie put the period on the last sentence of her 10-year-long chapter of softball, with a trip to PGF Nationals. It's been an amazing journey, with highs and lows, elation and frustration, joy and pain. Maddie has been blessed with great coaches, wonderful teammates, and a surprisingly low amount of drama (based on what I hear from other people's stories - LOL). I'm still sorting out my own emotions about this chapter ending, but I'm overwhelmingly proud of what she's done, and how she went about playing the game she loves.

A few swings from her final summer...

(Defensive plays coming soon)

Maddie finished her final games struggling with ankle, knee, and back pain. It hurt to move the way she needed to move on the field, and she was being held together with KT Tape and Advil, but she refused to back off until the last out of the last game.

Thank you to everyone on DFP who has encouraged and supported Maddie over the years of being part of this community. Thank you, also, to those who have challenged me, and made me think through what I believe. Some of you have changed my mind. Some of you have helped me confirm my beliefs.

I don't know if Maddie will ever return to playing, but I go forward with zero regrets, and am nothing but thankful that we got to share so many amazing experiences because of her journey.

Thank you for sharing your and Maddie's journey with us, both here and on Facebook. Wishing you and her the best in the future.

It's been very helpful for my 2023 DD to see her journey a year ahead of us. Been great to get to watch several of her games in person, including watching her team win a bid to PGF in 2019. For introducing me to the NECC. My DD doesn't catch in games much, but still is a very quiet receiver and was a bullpen catcher for her team this summer. She was always an aggressive defender, but NECC instilled in her the mentality of always looking for the next out. If I can brag on her a bit, here is play from her last tournament of the summer:
