šŸ˜‚. Here it isā€¦I combined 4 videos recorded earlier this month during team BP (coach pitch and machine pitch).

Ok! She looks really good in BP! BP swing is better than tee swing. Donā€™t mess with teaching her to load or negative move stuff. Will only slow her down. Let her be an athlete. Tell her to attack every pitch the pitcher throws. No indecision! Do damage! And be ok with her swinging at a bad pitch. When she does tell her to hammer the next one. Keep her tuned up!

Thank you. My main goal was to help her through some of the frustrations she's experiencing during games - She wants to hit the ball hard! In her travel team, usually bats 9th or 10th and when she does hit, its usually a weak grounder or a pop-up to SS/2nd (she was hitting a lot harder/further in 8U). She usually gets by because she's quick to the bases.

I second this ^^

Her swing is pretty fundamentally solid. Itā€™s short and absent of the flaws I see most in young hitters. I donā€™t mean this to be negative, but if she h it harder in 8U you may have (not intentionally) over coached the ā€œintentā€ out of her. With young kids unless something is really really bad in their swing, I usually just tell them to swing as hard as they can and praise them every time they do, regardless of result. Then by 11-12 when you start to tweak things the ā€œintent to do damageā€ as @Cornbread said is ingrained and will stick with her as you make adjustments.

Isnā€™t 8U coach pitch? If this is her first year of 10U (I may have missed that) I wouldnā€™t worry too much about pop just yet. Pretty good learning curve between 8U and 10U. Her BP swing looks solid. It most likely doesnā€™t match her game swing but thatā€™s normal at that age and even older lol. Lot of comfort in BP and notice sheā€™s swinging at everything. Live pitcher brings in lots of variables so now hitter is thinking too much which slows them down. Tinkering with her mechanics could have some effect. When my dd was that age she was athletic but didnā€™t have great body awareness so we focused on swinging hard with balance.

This is huge at that age. Shorten up, put it in play, wait for a good pitch, donā€™t swing at that, look for a change up are al phrases she never need to hear.

Thanks to all. Yes, sheā€™s a first year 10U player so all of that makes sense. The switch to kid pitch was rough for the team and most girls were simply not swinging the bat. We are mostly past that now and sheā€™s being more aggressive at the plate.

Weā€™ve put in a lot of tee time ( 99% tee work vs moving ball) so weā€™ll make the shift to a moving ball.

Thanks again all!

Looking for some input. I am constantly told that my DD swings slows, loopy and that she needs ā€œfast handsā€. Now Iā€™ve noticed there are times she can swing very fast (using tee) but for the most part, it looks like the swing below.

We did try a motion blast sensor and her average bat speed is 37.9 mph and her hand speed average is 10.1mph. Her highest is 41.8 and 11.8. Not sure how that compares to other first year 10U players.

Here is here most recent swing.

Here is the quickest swings Iā€™ve recorded (in my eyes) while trying out a non-stride approach.

Any thoughts on what could be going on? Or I put on how we can improve this? I donā€™t want these comments to get to her and affect her approach.

The top video swings do look kind of slow, but I wouldn't say they're loopy. It might be more of an intent problem than anything: is she looking to hit the ball hard every swing? Hard to tell from the video but the tosses coming in look kind of slow and arcing in to the plate which may be adding to the problem. Have you tried speeding up the front toss a bit?
