Watched a replay of a 12u 2021 LLWS Softball game btw Oklahoma and NJ.

No radar but announcer commented OK pitcher was throwing low 60s. Maybe true, maybe not.

Anyway, I was totally amazed at the strike zone. The umpire was consistently giving the pitchers the call on balls that were totally on the opposite bank of the river, in some cases not even on the chalk but entirely in the opposite batters box.

Needless to say it was a low scoring game. —60+mph from 40 feet with an extra 10 inches off the outer edge.

I might watch a few more just to see if that’s the norm or just a rogue ump. I understand that it’s Little League and not PGF—who knows, maybe that’s just LL’s strike zone at all levels regardless of ability.

The girl from OK throws mid-50’s at best. She got hit around pretty well this Fall against a number of local teams playing 14u. She is a pretty good pitcher but she isn’t going to overpower anybody in 14u TB.

So they borrowed the home plate ump that calls games in our HS conference?

Agreed...Not a chance she was legitimately throwing 60+. She's good, but not that good.

Didn't see game and for whatever reason LL SB is not around us. There is rec., which anyone can play regardless of ability or financial situation.

10" off the plate hopefully is a BIG exaggeration. I do not know if they have innings or pitch counts but if DD was pitching the other Team would be shutout.

1 game DD Pitched she could not throw the ball low enough. Had to be by the plate but nothing could be to low to be strike. She figured it out before other Team, game over in 1st inning. Felt sorry for the batters.

I also thought TB players snuck over there for trophy and experience of the whole thing.

Hey Redeem, was it on Youtube? I'd like to check it out. Any chance you have a link?

Look at called third at 11:09 and first pitch at 47:53.

In re-watching it a little bit, there may not have been as many of those being called as I originally thought but these two in particular definitely feel like a good 10 inches off the plate

Thanks for posting it! I definitely saw a few questionable calls so far..... Are these girls considered "A" level teams? Just curious. No way that she's hitting anywhere near 60, much closer to the 50 neighborhood! The pitcher from NJ really telegraphs her CU, other than that they both look solid.
