Does this apply to grandparents? Most trouble I have had.
Honestly I will get on to anyone who is sitting on our side of the field. I don't care who they are. Get mad about it, find a different team. Don't talk to the ump, other coach, or other players.

Phone call or face to face...just the two of you. Be direct about the problem you have with her. Tell her that you'd like her kid to stay, but her behavior needs to change. If she can't/won't change, send her on her way to another team.

Hey now! Back off of grandparents!
No lie story here. 8U rec ball game. Might have been the first game. Old dude (grandpa) and younger dad standing along the fence past the 1B or so. Young dad complains about an umpire call. Old dude tells the young buck to keep it down or they will toss you. Young Buck says mind your own business old man! Granpa ain't gonna take any of that. More words, shoving an wrestling ensued. Lots of cussing and all the games come to a screeching halt. Coaches jump the fence to break it up. Cops come to escort grandpa off the premises. I'm on the Sportsmanship committee and have to get everyone's statements.

Turns out grandkid and kid play on the SAME team!!!! Both were banned from attending games the rest of the season. Later heard Grandpa watched games from the parking lot. Grandpa's son grew up in the same rec league and now has grandkid in the same program so he knew the rules but young buck didn't want to hear it.

Moral of the story: Learn to use your words not your fists.

Yup, tell the parent that her daughter staying on the team is in jeopardy and if mom doesn't fly right, they are off the team. And when that happens, most every other parent will say either "thank you" or "about time".

I'm confused about your story. This mom stopped coaching because her daughter moved to travel but then she joined your team?

Over the years I've seen several players removed from teams. The majority of the time it was due to parental behavior.

From what you describe it sounds like this mother will be a cancer in the stands. What you need to do is have a sit down with her and let her know it would probably be better if moves her daughter to another team in the league. However, her reputation may precede her and the other coaches will not take on what they know will be a headache.

Often, it's the other way around. At least half of all loud griping and calls for on-field violence from 8yos comes from grandparents! :ROFLMAO:

She has two daughters and a son who are playing travel for the same town. Her fiancé is the coach for the 16u that one her daughters is on and the other is my squad and her son is the 10u baseball. So regardless I’ll see her lol
