Last thing for awhile…. I promise….

Apparently Cat and/or Abbott really wanted Monroe. Here is where the coach should have coached. What he needed to do was say something like “hey I understand you want a good catcher. We can’t afford her bat in the lineup. We will do this, that and the other thing to satisfy your needs as a pitcher, but as a team we need somebody that can hit. I think that Cervantes would be a good get.” (Ok, I added that last part.)

As intelligent adults, I bet both would have gone along with it.

Of course this never happened. Apparently it never happened because coaches at all levels consistently do a poor job of evaluating talent.

I think there was definitely some favoritism shown by coach Eriksen and USA softball,
As I mentioned earlier theres always favoritism in Olympic team selections. Its a good way to stretch your endorsement dollars and no one will tell Osterman and Abbot to hang them up.

USA Softball took their power for granted and the world snuck up and kicked them in their butt. Look at what happened to women's soccer and men's basketball.

Still dont understand the mandate that softball and baseball MUST share the same facility. Japan already has a robust pro baseball AND softball league. Why not just pick one of each of those venues, and NOT build a new facility for the Olympics? I mean, for fricks sake, they combined bball/sball in the name of “sustainability”… give me a break. NOTHING about the Olympics is “sustainable”. Brand new venues for everything. What a waste. I watched “canoe slalom” this past weekend. Brand new man made concrete water course. Could have built a softball venue for about 1/5 the cost of that thing. Jeepers…

And why does Erickson felt he owed it to them?

I gotta be honest- I’m not sure why I have so much to say about this!

And while there is no shame in a silver medal, I am still kind of hacked off about it!
Ricky Bobby said it best

Also you get no sprinkles for second

That's more on the athlete's and putting themselves first, something one if the greatest of them all never did.
