Back on the dirt...
Im looking for experience for coaching shoes that are closed leather type material. I dont want mesh type of shoe covering as I hate sand in my toes... LOL. Ive had an old pair of New Balance for about 5 years and they are done on the cushioning. Ive bought some Adidas and some newer style New Balance this year but they are hard and are not comfortable for long days at the ballfield.

I prefer something solid like this, but COMFORTABLE.

I know comfort is subjective but looking for any experience.

I wear running shoes because coaching/turf shoes just don’t cut it for me comfort wise. I’m interested to see if anyone else has found a pair that rivals the comfort of a sneaker.

What size and color? I have a blue pair in a size 9 like the red one in the middle you posted.

Think I paid $85 for them, wore them once! You pay the shipping and I’ll give them to you if they’ll work!

How about salomon speed x 5? They are comfortable on turf and you can day hike in them as well. They carry a 2 years warranty as along as you have a valid receipt. Costco.com has the speed x 5 in all black for $100.

While they have mesh, I’ve used Columbia day hikers as my coaching shoes, as I prefer the waterproofing, especially with the early morning games.

The gore-Tex (or any waterproof membrane) should keep the sand out.

I had a pair of skechers with the really thick rounded sole. They're supposed to be for walking but I found that the shape presented more of the sole surface contacting the ground at the point of heel touch-down so it felt more rigid.
But the thick soles were great for standing for long periods of time and you could rock your ankles back and forth a little bit to change pressure points.
No sand between the toes (maybe because you're up higher) but your socks wouldn't be clean either after a day in the dirt.
Watching people drag their feet through the infield in sandals makes my skin crawl.

Just buy some Sof Sole inserts. They will feel like new shoes.

Great replies everyone!

im an 11.5/12 so the 9’s are out but thank you! I would Do the same for the white NB I have If anyone interested. I’ll get a pic.

Tried to get the Merrill’s but wife said no lol

nice running/jogger would be great but sand is bad here.

I think the Wife would say no to the sketchers too. Haha

Ive looked at a few umpire shoes But never tried them on. I may try the insole thing for now.
