While I dont encourage playing on a bunch teams, sometimes you don’t know about the coaching until you play for them.... we asked many about the coaches we played for and never got the responses compared to what we experienced.
This post stood out to me!

Can say have noticed same thing!
Perhaps ~ Why ?
...is the base question for the many discussions on dfp.

DD started playing travel at age 8 on our town travel B team. Same group of girls were the town travel A team the next year and played a more competitive schedule against club teams and did really well.
She aged up to 12 U with one of the coaches kids and after a very dramatic town 12U fall she joined her first actual club team with 2 of her friends. Coach was awful, told her she’d never hit the ball out of the infield because she was small etc. (side note: played his daughters team senior year in the state semis and bounced one off of the centerfield fence for a stand up triple that won the game)
The following year the original town team got back together as a club team
The year after that the 3 best club teams in our area all kinda merged into a new organization. She played 14U and a year of 16U with them and left to play for a very well respected coach for her final 3 years (all 18U).

so to answer your question 5 different organizations, some multiple years but not the same “team”

DD2 played on 3 teams in 10U after the 1st team "blew up". Then got on a team and has been with the same Coaches for the last 7 years. DD2 and another really good player has been with the team the longest. Fun watching those 2 play all these years.

So far 1 from 9U (she was 7 when she started, turned 8 shortly thereafter) through 12U (she turned 11 in Sept). Will be 2 within the next month or so.

It is so strange to hear about girls playing TB since 8u. I mean they are 7 and 8 yrs old! 🤪 I assume there just isn't a local REC league to play so the 8U or 10U TB teams are in essence just REC teams, correct?

Out here in So Cal almost every local city has REC B level leagues from 6u-12u (sometimes 14U). Some really small leagues are considered "C" out here. There are separate State "B" tournaments and "C" State tournaments (All Stars). Ours is B and we are on the smaller B side. Girls play REC usually until 10u or 12u, then slowly more and more girls leave for TB.

We play our league schedule in Spring and All Stars in the summer. Then in both Fall and in Spring we have "Select" teams made up of the top girls in our REC league.

I guess I always had thought of "Travel Ball" as A level talent level but there are TONS of TB teams out here in 10u-14u that are definitely not A level. More like "B+" ...or as we call some teams "Travel-lite" . Older daughter began in 10u doing both Travel and REC at same time and then full travel at 12u.

Younger DD is about to do the same for 12u playing 14U Select right now.

Its interesting that in looking back how many teams my girls have been on.

If memory is correct:

Older DD: 8u to Soph HS = 18 total teams. WOW! 12 different head coaches (I never was HC but was AC for a few teams. Was still coaching HS during her younger years.)

Younger DD: 6u to current (12yrs old) = 16 Total teams. 5 total head coaches (I've been her HC for 11 different teams/seasons)

Typical year for us would be- Fall ball/Select (Sept-Nov), Spring League (Jan-May)+ Spring Select (Jan-May), All Stars (May-July)....rinse and repeat. 😵 Plus throw in Basketball (Nov-Feb) and (June-August).

DD played rec from 5-7. At 7 she had been playing machine pitch for two years and was ready to play kid pitch. The rec kid pitch was horrible..she would have gotten nothing out of it so we decided to make the move to "TB". The quality wasn't that bad and was much better than she would have gotten in rec.
