Here's a thought: So I order some 10 lb dumbbells from Scammazon. When they come in, I weigh them out at 12 lb. I would think sending them back would be my first response rather than pooling together a bunch of other Scammazoners with a law suit. But I am just a kid from the sticks. Perhaps I'm missing something.
First of all, I would never weight dumbells that state 10lb or another weight. Honestlu I never ever thought to weigh a newly purchased bat because prior to finding this site i had no idea there were issues with faulty product weights.

Secondly, I wouldn't sue but would expect a refund without question

Forgive me since I just umpire the game and was never a coach, but does one or two ounces really make that big a difference? I've seen bats with extra grip tape, those swing-tracking sensors, and other little add-ons that I'm guessing could add a couple of extra ounces. Also, batters wear batting gloves, elbow guards, and signal card holders that also add one or two ounces. Wouldn't they also contribute to the batter's swing mechanic?

I guess I just don't see the big deal.

And not sounding mean, but that's on you. Again, with the amount of data out there on the net, you have to take a little upon yourself.
When you are at a store or game...and you pick up multiple bats...didn't you ever feel a difference between 2 of the same sticker
weighted bats but diff models?

Nothing is "faulty"...most bats aren't what the stickers say.

Not mean just arrogant. I am not in a softball is life state here in Massachusetts and my daughter is only now in here 3rd year playing. She is 12 yo playing up this fall and next season. While she is fairly strong, she has no formal strength training yet and is still learning.

Why would it be ok to for any item sold not to be held to a standard of reasonable tolerance. 3 tenths of an oz in either direction is reasonable, 1.5-2.5ozs is not. Maybe its just what people have decided to accept but it really should not be.

I purchased a piece of equipment with the expectation that is was helping my dd advance her performance at the plate. She was slow in the hands with a 23 oz bat and my expectation was a 22 would help her hand speed. Come to find out I ended up with a .5oz heavier bat. Why would I ever think a manufacturer would misrepresent itself??

This is a point I find myself making or thinking about in a lot of threads on these forums. Maybe most here, but the vast majority of soccer Moms and Dads aren't hardcore gear geeks that are seeking out this kinda of info. And obviously the sportings goods stores, D*, is mostly useless for this information and often the only place parents have access to to buy goods. It's amazing how many people don't know how to find someone who will sell a bat below retail. Demarini can accurately mark weight, though the prism is a bit of an exception as ours is about .4 or .5 over, cant recall exactly. I bet I've weighed 6 or 7 CFs personally and none have been greater than 0.2 oz off. So I'm not too sure I buy the tolerences from glue stuff.

The fact is every current ghost I've seen stamped a -10 and weighed, should be labeled a -9. I've heard some early blue ghosts may have been only about 0.5 over. We kind of have this weighing thing down so there aren't a lot of excuses.

Do I really care, no. But does it make sense that the manufacturers for years and years give misinformation to the uninformed consumer, no.

I remember Subway getting sued because the five dollar footlong wasn't always twelve inches.

Its been that way for YEARS, didn't just start the past couple. Again, not arrogant...but you breezed right over where I asked if you ever picked up diff bats at a store or at a game and felt them being a bit diff and both or more were listed 33/23s?

And im not saying its great or ok...just that its nothing new. Bats have been that way for a long time.

Honestly no, I haven't noticed differences in bat weights. There's only two ghosts (one is our) and one xlt (4 years old) in our entire league. The majority of players here are using hand me downs that are 6-8 years old and beat to hell. The majority of girls who play are just here for recreation and to play with their friends which is completely fine but their parents are not dropping 3- 4 hundred on an new bat they will outgrown in a season or two.

I didn't even buy new though you wouldn't know it was used when I got it because my dtr isn't done growing yet and I fully expect her to need another bat in 2021 Fall or spring 2022.

So again, now I know there is no consistency in bats and will weigh any bat I will consider purchasing in the future. I will also let everyone we know about the descepencies.
