Why exactly ?

Because these girls are too big and the fields are too small. Do you know how many 200+ pound girls I saw in Texas at the Bombers Showcase? They could throw the ball over a 210 foot fence, and now you're going to give these behemoth girls the same drop level on a bat they've had since they were 6....and on the same field?
Its ridiculous. -5 bats only for 14U and up and let's start a discussion about making the field/diamond larger. 75 foot bases and 250 foot fences ought to do it. The crushed balls will still carry 250 and it might get rid of the oopsie HRs. We had one of our slappers go yaya a few weeks back in AZ

Quick thought without doing much thinking...At the D1, elite level, national level this may sometimes be the case. Most teams are not National, Elite, Premier, high A local. The only games I watched recently where I thought the players just dominated the field was those Athlete's Unlimited games. There were a ton of Bombs. My kid couldn't come close to getting a -5 bat around, I guess if you back the pitcher's up to 53 ft, maybe, LOL. The smaller field makes for a lot of excitement IMO.

This lawsuit was originally filed back in 2018. The lead plaintiff claimed that a bat he bought for his son was labeled as weighing 22 ounces when it was, in fact, 25 ounces. I'm not a lawyer so I don't understand the legalese here, but there was some sort of lower-court decision that the lawsuit did not meet the requirement to qualify as a class action, and an appeals court just last month overturned that ruling.

Deeper fences, maybe, but lengthen the base path?? NO WAY! Thats what makes the game great. No margin for error. Pitch it fat, pay the piper. Just fix the leap, replant, drag rules. Make them go away and let everyone pitch by the same rules. That would be my "FIX".

It wasn't too long ago that the pitching distance was 40' all the way thru college. If you want less HR you could move the mound back to 40'.

Interesting. I wonder how they'll try and show the " consequences of using a mislabeled bat". I look forward to the GameChanger exhibits, and the cross examination.

Plantiff: The additional two ounces were clearly damaging. As you can see your honor, Suzie's OPS in 2012 declined a full 6 points, versus 2011.

Judge: And who did the GameChanger in 2012?

Plantiff: Well, er...it was Mary's mom, she played 2 years of varsity HS ball, that is, she told us she did.

Judge: Mary you say? Can the Plantiff's Attorney please show us Mary's OPS for 2012?

Plantiff: Your honor, I really don't think...

Judge: Dismissed!

It is silly to list a bat at a certain weight and then it actually be different. This makes it impossible to compare bats.

Bats also come off a line and most bats now have inner tech, which makes it harder. You do realize how little it takes to be
off an ounce...right? Excess glue can be half an ounce or more.

And its not like Easton is the only bat overweight....most are. And like stated, this is an old case and nothing came of it as
it never will.

Would you rather have bats that are a consistent weight...even though over...or bats all over the place? Atleast with most bats
made, you know the range they come in at and you go from there. Sorry, but if people don't research before buying, its more on
them nowadays with all the forums and information out there.

Dd's first 2 piece composite was an Easton FS3. Supposed to be 28/16. She was 7 and tiny and hated that bat. She struggled and so did my buddies dd, we both bought the bat on sale. Finally one day we were at my buddies house and decided to weigh them. I swear they both were a touch over 18 oz. No wonder they hated them, both girls at that time were under 50lbs and the extra 2 oz mattered. Sold it to another guy and moved on. I made sure to tell him the actual weight also. Lesson learned and then I found this site which was a tremendous help.
