DD is a 2023 and her new TB team is doing their first showcase next week. It's a really big one so there are tons of teams there. How do college coaches know who to go watch? DD has emailed a few college coaches but right now I don't even know what schools will be there.
What should I expect while there? Also her team just started practices a few weeks ago since the HS season is finally over. But the teams we will play against all must have SB in the spring since these teams have already been in several tournaments.
thx

Don't sit behind Home Plate. Sit along 1st or 3rd base lines.
Don't interact with DD during the game. Cheeing is fine.
Don't try talking with coaches as they won't talk with you.

Your coaching staff should've already posted players bios and GPA's online and at the game.

Just go and enjoy the games. Connected coaches will have the right people watching.

We were lucky to have a D1, SEC school watching one of our games this Fall. Kids tend to show up and show out when that's happening!

I'd say, make sure to carry DD's bag from the car to the field. Ask if she's getting thirsty often and make sure she's hydrated during the game. Snack check all the time! Hungry players don't play well!

Ha, just kidding, please don't do any of that! Let your kid play her hardest and show everyone (anyone, or no one!) what she's got. Enjoy the game and keep expectations low regarding if any coach is present

The first of many I'm sure.

If you try to sit as far away as possible, sometimes hiding behind parked cars if necessary, is that viewed in a negative way? Asking for a friend..
Do what you do brother. Not going to hear you on the live stream!

My kid barely even likes to look at us during games. Her HS coach said he wasn't a fan of the players going out to talk to their parents but then - so many still did
I've learned to be pretty hands off the last few years.

If a coach witnesses a parent carrying any equipment "that equipment" is impounded by the coach for the weekend. You're not playing!

Water better be sent with player or share with teammates. No eating in the dugout.

I was a a college showcase last summer with DD's team, they asked me to run the scoreboard, so I got to sit behind home plate. That was great and all until later I watched the video (which was mounted on the backstop), and all I heard was my running commentary.....those cameras have good mics!

What? What do you mean not a fan? Sounds like he allowed it. That is strictly forbidden in every HS game I have attended for any team AND started with 14U TB teams.

College coaches are not coming to watch your kid unless she has been in communication (one way for the most part)with the coach. Your team should have a recruiting liaison (mom/Dad/Asst coach) that stands outside of the field available for any questions. I personally liked to carry the profiles in a little binder attached to my backpack. The coaches were forced to deal with me! But they pretty much knew who I was, and I knew what schools my players were in contact with.

Last year we had a new kid on our team and she had been attending camps and communicating with various schools. One particular mid major coach shows up, and I ask about this player. He was kind enough to tell me that he already told her previous coach that there is no room for her in his program which is a nice way of saying they aren't interested. It was kind of awkward relaying the information to the parents, but they have to know. Coach even offered a refund for an upcoming hitting camp. You need to have a designated point person for intel gathering. Hopefully, someone that can hold a conversation with another human being.
