I am looking for a good catcher's glove for 12U. I keep looking at the Shoeless Jane as it looks super soft and comfortable. My daughter says her current glove hurts with hard fast balls. A guy offered me an awesome price on a Shoeless Joe but I am not sure if it will support a 12 softball. Oh an I am not trying to go broke purchasing a catchers glove. She loves her All Star Vela outfield glove, but I am not sure how good are their catchers glove

Any help is appreciated

All Star's catcher mitts are held in very high regard around here. They offer very good thumb protection. She'd also probably get several years out of it. What's your price range? Personally I'd stay away from the Shoeless Jane one. Super soft is not what you want in a glove that's going to see so much action. It'll get too soft and floppy pretty quick I'd suspect.

I can tell you that from my own personal experience as a bucket dad I would stay away from dual fold mitt. I bought a dual fold Under Armor and I thought it was great at first. It broke in quickly and my hand didn't sting anymore, but that didn't last long. My DD jumped up in speed pretty quickly and now if I don't catch it in the pocket it stings my thumb pretty good. At the same time I bought the Under Armor mitt I bought a Rawlings Liberty Advanced. I never took the tags off of it and held on to long so I ended up selling it for $50 to an acquaintance whose daughter is still using it as her everyday mitt.

The Rawlings Liberty Advanced definitely isn't like one of these Vinci mitts where you have to run it over with a steam roller to get it broke in but it isn't game ready as soon as you take off the tags. It is single fold and I see a lot of 12U girls using it. So that is the one I would recommend.

I happen to have a Vinci JCV-22 that's just to that point of being perfectly broken it, not floppy, just perfect! For some reason it's in my closet but it belongs to the HS head coach, he just asked me to look after it? He's NOT a glove guy by any stretch!

I don't need it.....I'll see if he wants to sell it?

And just so you know......there's a $100.00 admin fee on top of the glove price for breaking in a Vinci mitt!! And it's worth every dime, right @Eric F ;)

Thanks I am trying to stay under $200 but as close to free as I can get. LOL I will go back to the all-star site she loves her vela..... heck she tried to use it as a catchers mitt.

Check out the Marucci gloves on sale now.

Great suggestion! I've never own a Marucci, but I think I'd take a chance and order this mitt!

I second this! For 129.99 I don't see anything comparing to it at that price point.
