Finally got our first games in, been using this time in quarantine to work on some swing adjustments. I’ve seen posts by @pattar & @Eric F Chronicling their daughters journey so I thought I’d start one for my sister and get some feedback. Looking at her swing all the time it’s good to get outside thoughts in case I miss things.

First at bat back

Fourth at bat of the day

The lowerbody looks good, the upper body and barrel swings down and goes down. Down to and down through.

Just from these two swings, it appears she rushes or is unbalanced so the load of the hands is early and is forced into disconnection. The HR swing she is connected.

I think it’s from her load phase and the feeling of being loaded but truly not loading the hips initially. Her weight gets back instead of down so to speak. I would work in the s-plane so the load can be consistent and apart of her movement pattern instead of separate.

I think there is a lot to like in her swing as well. She seems to control her limbs well and is athletic. Holds the ground well. Has good hands.

Sorry this isn't related to your DD, but what program or app are you using for the comparisons?
I’m using the coach’s eye app for IOS, let’s you compare two videos along with a few other features for marking up videos. I wish they made the subscription monthly though to get all the features

I think her hands are what save her when she’s rushing. In the swing and miss she doesn’t get as good of a move out as the HR swing. The second pitcher probably was throwing about 5-7 mph faster and it seems when I connected the two videos that she had the same timing although the pitcher was faster.

when she rushed her stride shortened and she stepped out to create space and dropped the elbow as her new timing mechanism. I will say even though she dropped her back elbow I was surprised she was able to turn that high with her hands and get a piece of it.

definitely agree with her load needing some work. Good thing is we have nothing but time!

You know I thought something similar the way her bat bounced down like that, and I’m full speed it looks like she cut the ball a bit but here are a few stills(I’m not a fan of stills since they don’t tell the whole story but maybe decent here). In order is this not getting on plane early as the barrel works behind her? I think if she were late she still would have hit it hard to the right side.

You know I actually think that Marcela and my sister have similar adjustments to be made. She was at a similar spot at your daughters age mentally and performance wise. I just caught up with your post last night and from watching I really think all it is is a timing issue. We can nitpick movements and patterns all day long but at the end of the day I fall back on be athletic and be on time. Maybe a verbal cue of be way early will show her how much time she truly has and will allow her to make her own adjustments. As for your DD’s HC I tell my sister as well as all the girls I work with get the sign from your coach then ignore them even if it’s me teach them to be independent and make their own adjustments and that starts them on a path to being a complete hitter. As for mentally you’d be surprised how quickly things turn around after a few solid hits.
