Something leather and cheap.

8U what ball you have it isn't going to matter all that much or at all.

You just want durable - leather covers are going to help give you that. If you are not looking game balls so you don't need ASA/USA certified for gameplay, then any sanctioned ball will do. Currently, fastpitch softballs are the same criteria across sanctions - the only difference it with stamps and occasionally stitching color.

Bownet is a decent, durable choice at $65/dozen.

You can normally find Champro's in the low $50s @ Epic Sports - they are not as durable but they are still perfectly good for 8U. They will have ASA/USA Champro as well. Other brands as well. Diamond is OK; Rawlings is a few bucks more but a little more durable.

I’m actually looking for the best compression ball. We never play asa so I will order whatever

All fastpitch balls are currently built to the same compression and standards and stamped for the sanction based on the buyers request. They are not currently built for a specific sanction (a few years ago NSA went rogue and changed the ball compression - it was NOT well received and they reverted after a season). Despite lots of brands, most come out of the same 4 or 5 factories located in various Asian countries (Vietnam, Bangladesh, Taiwan and China primarily):

Below is the USSSA v ASA/USA ball standards. While written differently, effectivley in practice they are the same.

USSSA:
Compression: Maximum of 375#
COR: 46.25 +/- 0.75
Circumference: 11 +/- 1/8”
Weight: 6.0 +/- 0.20 oz.

ASA/USA:
ASA.1.The 12-Inch Fast Pitch Ball. The white cover or yellow optic cover,red-stitch 12-inch ball (all men’s and boys play may have white cover, white stitches) with a Ball COR of .470 or under and a Ball Com-pression of 375.0 lbs or under shall be used in the following ASAplay: men’s and women’s fast pitch, men’s and women’s masterfast pitch, men’s senior fast pitch, and boys and girls 12-, 14-, 16-,and 18-under fast pitch.

It is 8U, buy a bunch of cheap balls and beat the crap out of them. Better yet, find some used ones locally and use those. Again, it is 8U...

I didn't really care but following the rules is a good thing. Home Team was supposed to provide 2 unopened balls to umpire before the games.

Since you are probably pitching to your own Team avoid the softies. :)

are there any 8u players that can compress a ball/bat enough to where quality of bat/ball makes a difference?

if the bat doesn't sting their hands, and the ball is durable, call it good lol
