When I was kid in FL we said the Lord's prayer and the pledge. The Jehovah Witness kids didn't. They were not punished or singled out by the teacher but we kids knew they were different. Fast forward to my adulthood, conversion to Judiasm, and raising a Jewish DD. She went to a *secular* French class and camp that was held in a church. The third year in a new teacher wanted to teach them Christian prayers in French. My DD raised her hand and asked what she should do b/c she's Jewish. The woman told her sit in the back of the room, be quiet, and fold her hands in prayer. The other girls stared at her, now knowing, she's different. She's no longer one of them. She cried the whole way home. When you are a non-Christian and put in situations like this it hurts and points out that you are different for all to see. Religion belongs in your home and place of worship if not *expressly communicated* that an activity you signed up for will have religious overtones. If you want a Christian or Jewish or Muslim or Sikh team - go for it - but make sure anyone signing up knows it so they know what to expect.

I agree with this whole thing for the most part. The only thing I would say is that it is important to teach your kids that it is ok, and sometimes preferable, to be “different” in particular when being “different” means you are not doing things which you know are wrong....

Agreed. Sometimes the fear of being different is what leads people (especially young people) down the wrong paths. Drugs, alcohol, sex, etc. Unfortunately, some will get involved in these (or worse) all just to be popular.

I remember the good old days when no one cared about what you do as long as it didn't impact them personally. More victims of the internet and social media

If you don't understand the meaning of Marxists and the root be derived from the Name Karl Marx then I guess you could use Google to help you out. You might want to also Google Joseph Stalin and the great purge.

Makes perfect sense now- my post about not particularly wanting to spend every moment with the parents of a 10u team..... and preferring to do our praying at home or in a church of our choosing.... I totally see the connection now. To Marxism and Stalin’s purge. It’s so obvious! Thanks!

Cant recall a time, ever, where people didnt have something to say about what others are doing.
Regardless if it impacted them or not.

Many a time can recall others wanting to control what others do.

while we're at it, i'd say a dress code that dictates how a player wears their hair is a little much for me.......but that's just me

I understand there is a case for not telling a player how to wear their hair, but It was in place before she joined the team. If she was not aware of it before she was asked to put her hair up I guess I Can understand that, but when it was discussed with the player she was excused from it. I don’t see the issue with how it was handled. If she was allowed to wear it and it was still mentioned in the report that tells me the hair is not the real issue, that makes me think the issue over her hair is a result of a breakdown in morale, not the cause of it, who is at fault is probably secondary.
